Yordan Alvarez 1+ Home Run (+276)
Alvarez is just one behind Kyle Schwarber for the MLB lead in home runs with 36 dingers on the season. He and the Astros are at home on Saturday night against the A’s and lefty Jacob Lopez. While Lopez has been better lately, Alvarez is a favorite play of the public even when he’s in a less-than-ideal matchup. Of his 36 homers, 20 have come at home at Daikin Park, and he has a pair of homers in 18 at-bats against the A’s. He also has gone yard against Lopez in the past, going 1-for-2 in their past head-to-head matchups. Alvarez went 2-for-4 with two doubles in the series opener on Friday and he has a 57.9% hard-hit rate in his last seven games with a .409 wOBA and .261 ISO. He’s always an elite power threat, and the public is backing him on Saturday even in a lefty-lefty matchup.
Munetaka Murakami 1+ Home Run (+265)
Another popular lefty power hitter this Saturday is White Sox 1B Munetaka Murakami. Murakami and the White Sox are playing at home at Rate Field, where the wind is forecast to be blowing out to RF at 11 MPH. Murakami has nine homers in his last 25 games and five homers in his last 14 games, even though he hasn’t homered in his last three contests. Murakami has hit 23 of his 29 homers this season against righties and has a 21.3% barrel rate in the split. He’ll take on righty Christian Scott on Saturday night, who has allowed eight homers in his 18 starts. Seven of those homers have been hit by lefties like Murakami, though, and lefties have a .306 wOBA against him on the year. With the wind blowing out and so much strong contact, the 26-year-old could add another blast on Saturday, and if he does, he’ll reach 30 homers on the season in just his 94th game.
Shohei Ohtani 1+ Home Run (+230)
Ohtani reached 30 homers in his 121st game of the season last Tuesday in Colorado. While he hasn’t been pitching, he has been continuing to mash at the plate with six homers in his last 15 contests due to a 53.5% hard-hit rate and an 18.6% barrel rate. The public likes his chances to hit No. 31 on Saturday night against Jared Jones and the Pirates. Jones has allowed 11 homers in his 14 starts this season and lefties like Ohtani have six of those homers and a 43.4% hard-hit rate. Ohtani is 0-for-5 against Jones in the past, but he has at least one hard-hit ball in 14 of his last 15 games with multiple hard-hit events in six of his last nine.
