The Westies reaches its Season 1 finale Sunday, August 23, at 9 p.m. ET on MGM+. The episode is titled, most fittingly, “The Irish Goodbye.”
Seven episodes have steadily dismantled the relationships that once held Eamon Sweeney’s Hell’s Kitchen operation together. That process accelerated brutally last week. Jimmy Roarke finally learned what Sweeney’s protection costs when one of his own men became expendable.
Now Jimmy and Sweeney enter the finale on opposite sides of a divided Westies crew. Glenn Keenan has also built his strongest case yet. Meanwhile, Bridget Walsh’s revenge mission has reached its most dangerous stage.

The Westies season one finale preview
“A Boy Made of Trouble” finally shattered Jimmy and Sweeney’s relationship. Sean’s cocaine arrest exposed Jimmy’s arrangement with John Gotti, and Sweeney ultimately approved Sean’s murder. Glenn Keenan anticipated the move, recording Sweeney and Gotti discussing Sean’s fate before playing the evidence for Jimmy.
Jimmy confronted Sweeney at gunpoint but walked away without killing him. Sweeney admitted he once imagined Jimmy succeeding him, but the damage was already complete. “The Irish Goodbye” now divides the Westies between Sweeney’s old guard and the younger men increasingly aligned with Jimmy.
Keenan enters the finale with his strongest evidence yet, although Danny remains trapped inside the world his father hopes to destroy. Gotti also sits dangerously between Jimmy and Sweeney, leaving the gang’s internal war tangled with a growing federal case.
Bridget’s revenge mission reaches its own breaking point. She still intends to kill Colonel Gerald Markham, but Brendan Cahill’s suspicious history has shaken her trust. The finale promises major revelations around that mission.
Everything now points toward collapse. Jimmy must decide whether breaking from Sweeney means replacing him. Bridget must learn what her revenge has actually been built upon. Sweeney, meanwhile, faces the possibility that the young man he once hoped would inherit his world may be the one who ends it.
