Some three months after Arsenal lifted the Premier League trophy for the first time, the season is back!
The Gunners will kick off the 2026/27 campaign with a 3 p.m. ET (8 p.m. local) meeting against Coventry City, which won the Championship last season. Arsenal is also a favorite to win its second straight title.

90’+4: Another sloppy turnover leading to an Arsenal free kick in the 94th minute, because how else was this game supposed to end?
90′: And no…Victor Torp just booted it beyond the touch line.
89′: That was a well-timed run by Taiwo Awoniyi, but he was brought down from behind, earning a rare free kick for the Sky Blues! Let’s see if they can make anything of it!
85′: There was Coventry’s first shot on target! After a great cross, Jack Rudoni had a great chance from the top of the six-yard box, but he bounced it right to David Raya, who didn’t have to move.
78′: Now in the game for Arsenal: Mikel Merino, who had a few brilliant late winners for Spain in the World Cup. Does he have another moment of late magic in him to put the Gunners up 4-0?
73′: A nice ball through there by Myles Lewis-Skelly to find Riccardo Calafiori’s run, but Carl Rushworth did a good job to get there first and prevent what surely would’ve been a fourth goal.
67′: Coventry protested for a corner there, but it wasn’t given! Arsenal looked to have gotten away with one there, not that it would’ve mattered much.
66′: Rushworth can’t keep spilling it like that! One of the Sky Blues’ defenders managed to clear it off the line in that case, but he got very fortunate that his team isn’t down 4-0!
61′: There have been some awesome overlapping runs by Riccardo Calafiori today, and that one led into a shot attempt by Ødegaard. It didn’t turn into a goal, but it did produce a corner for Declan Rice to take.
59′: Coventry has been getting some decent touches in the box, but they just haven’t been able to control it. Some sloppy touches there, but those are the sorts of sequences they’ll need to keep building if they want to eventually put one past David Raya.
56′: And now there’s a corner for Coventry, its first of the second half! This game is likely over, but can the Sky Blues pull one back off of a set piece? They were very good from such situations in the Championship.
52′: Hey, there’s a save for Carl Rushworth! He got a fingertip to Saka’s effort from outside the box. That potentially could’ve hit the crossbar, but it also might’ve been a goal, so good for Rushworth not to take the chance.
49′: THE ANSWER: NO, COVENTRY HAS NOT IMPROVED AT HALFTIME! ARSENAL HAS A 3-0 LEAD AFTER A SCRAMBLE IN FRONT OF HTE GOAL RESULTED IN A TAP-IN GOAL FOR MARTIN ØDEGAARD! HE DIDN’T HIT IT VERY WELL, BUT RUSHWORTH ONLY GOT A FINGERTIP TO IT!
46′: And we’re back in action! Do the Sky Blues have a better showing in them, or will the Gunners continue their dominance?
HT: The referee has blown his whistle for halftime. In the opening 45 minutes of this 2026/27 Premier League season, the Gunners have managed to put three of their 10 shots (worth 1.29 xG) on target and have a 2-0 lead, while Coventry has managed two shots worth 0.04 xG, putting both off target. What dominance this is so far!
45’+2: That was way too close for comfort! Declan Rice had miles of space from the top of the box and very nearly curled one in! Frank Lampard’s men are giving Arsenal way too much room, as the first-game jitters are showing.
45′: Tzolis went down heavily at the top of the box, but his appeals for a foul went unheard!
43′: I’m not sure if that was a shot or a pass, but Coventry’s Tchouna just sent an overhead kick goal-bound, and it nearly required intervention from David Raya before falling harmlessly on the top of the net!
38′: What a tremendous performance it’s been by Arsenal’s new signing, Kostas Tzolis, so far. The Sky Blues’ sloppiness in possession isn’t exactly helping, but he’s been a force to be reckoned with on the wing, slinging in cross after cross.
35′: Coventry has created a set piece right at the edge of the box, closer to the touch line, after Gabriel earned a yellow card! It didn’t turn into anything, though.
34′: Arsenal almost made it three there! The Sky Blues managed to get it out and have started a somewhat promising counter, yielding a touch in the box, but this has still not been a very encouraging performance overall.
27′: And now the first booking of the new season has been shown, to Coventry’s new signing Caleb Yirenkyi. The Ghanaian brought down Myles Lewis-Skelly from behind, which the referee didn’t look too kindly upon.
23′: AND THAT’S TWO! RUSHWORTH GAMBLED TO STOP A TZOLIS CROSS, AND HE TIPPED IT RIGHT TO THE BRILLIANT LEFT FOOT OF BUKAYO SAKA! THE GUNNERS ARE FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS!
18′: ARSENAL IS RELENTLESS! COVENTRY CAN’T GET IT OUT OF THE DEFENSIVE THIRD!
15′: AND THERE IT IS! KAI HAVERTZ HAS HIS FINGERNAIL ON THE GOLDEN BOOT RACE, PASSING IT INTO THE BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER OF THE NET FROM NEAR THE PENALTY SPOT! ARSENAL 1, COVENTRY CITY 0, AND THE GUNNERS CURRENTLY LEAD THE PREMIER LEAGUE ALONE IN THEIR QUEST TO GO BACK-TO-BACK! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CROSS FROM CALAFIORI AFTER THE GIVEAWAY!
13′: Now, Coventry just attempted its first shot of the 2026/27 season! It was a low-quality look from waaaayyyy outside the box that was immediately blocked by an Arsenal defender, but good to see the Sky Blues getting aggressive! Welcome back to the Premier League, Coventry!
11′: As expected, Arsenal has been on the front foot for most of this match, and it has kept the pressure on Coventry’s Carl Rushworth. So far, the Sky Blues have done well not to give away too many high-quality chances, but at some point, the Gunners are bound to produce something from one of their corners!
8′: Arsenal has won its first corner of the game, and it led to a Tzolis shot that was blocked! The Gunners were so good from set pieces last season; can they keep it up in 2026/27?
5′: And there was the first shot of the 2026/27 season! Christos Tzolis, a new Gunner, rocketed one from the right side of the box, and it did not find the target!
