What happened to Xander Bogaerts? Live injury updates for Padres vs. Mets 8/19/26

San Diego Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts left Wednesday’s game early due to injury.

Bogaerts left the outing during the eighth inning due to what appeared to be a hamstring injury suffered during an at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. He was replaced by Sung-Mun Song at shortstop.

Bogaerts went 1-for-2 during Wednesday’s game with a hit and a run scored before exiting.

The veteran shortstop hasn’t been his usual self this season, slashing just .219/.319/.326 with a .645 OPS. However, he’s been noticeably better in August with a .224/.361/.388 line and a .749 OPS amidst the Padres’ surge, tallying 11 hits, six RBI, five runs, and two homers with 11 walks over this span.

The Padres are 68-59 prior to the conclusion of Wednesday’s game vs. the Mets.
