The Dallas Wings have struggled ever since the All-Star break, and now, they’ve gotten some bad injury news on a No. 1 pick who’s played a key role in the rotation this year.

Azzi Fudd, the sharpshooter out of UConn, is set to miss the remainder of her rookie season due to a procedure which will address an ongoing right knee issue.

Fudd has missed five consecutive games now, last playing back on August 5. Now, her rookie campaign will be cut short as she undergoes this procedure, meaning the Wings will be without a key cog in their starting five.

In 30 games this year, the No. 1 selection averaged 13.1 points while shooting 45.6% overall and 39.7% from deep. While she didn’t contribute much via assists or rebounds, her shooting from beyond the arc proved integral and she also pitched in 2.5 combined stocks per game.

Dallas is notably just 2-7 since the All-Star break. While the franchise seemed poised for a legitimate postseason push, the Wings have now plummeted to eighth in the standings at 20-16 overall.

They next play on Thursday night against the Indiana Fever at 8 p.m. ET in Dallas.
