Prediction, pick for Roman Puga vs. Taner Trembley at DWCS: Season 10, Week 2

Published:

By: Cooper Albers

Season 10 of Dana White’s Contender Series continues on Tuesday night, with the Week 2 action featuring a featherweight clash between Roman Puga and Taner Trembley.

Puga (5–1) has won four straight bouts by knockout or TKO, coming off a second-round stoppage of LFA’s Hamzeh Trad in February. Trembley (7–0) looks to preserve his “O” after scoring a second-round knockout of Korey Taylor in LFA in April.

Puga enters as a -155 moneyline favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook, while Trembley sits as a +130 underdog.

Puga vs. Trembley Preview

Roman Puga

  • 5–1 Overall
  • 4–1 (T)KO
  • 1–0 SUB

Roman Puga returned to MMA in 2024 after five years away following a loss in his second professional bout. He spent part of that hiatus in the boxing ring, honing a skill set that has translated seamlessly into the cage. Since coming back, the 29-year-old American is 4–0 with four knockouts. While Puga’s grappling isn’t outstanding, he’s been able to overwhelm his opponents with relentless pressure and nasty body work. He’ll be looking to do the same Tuesday night.

Taner Trembley

  • 7–0 Overall
  • 2–0 (T)KO
  • 5–0 SUB

Taner Trembley arrives on Dana White’s Contender Series with quite the resume: 7–0 with seven stoppages. The undefeated American, 31, pairs decent striking with an impressive ground game, with five career wins by submission. Still, “Kill Em Quick” has been hittable in the past against lower-level competition, and he’ll likely aim to take things to the mat as fast as his nickname would suggest on Tuesday.

Puga vs. Trembley Prediction, Pick

While Taner Trembley is undefeated with a 100 percent finish rate, it would be difficult to argue that he’s truly dangerous in any singular facet of MMA. Roman Puga, on the other hand, arrives on Dana White’s Contender Series with sensational boxing and the potential to do some serious damage with his hands. He should notch his fifth straight victory — and potentially his fifth straight stoppage — on Tuesday night.

Best Bet: Roman Puga Moneyline (-185)
