Season 10 of Dana White’s Contender Series continues on Tuesday night, with the Week 2 action featuring a lightweight clash between Logan Paxton and Cristian Perez.
Paxton (10–1) is riding a nine-fight winning streak, punctuated by eight stoppage wins in a row. Perez (14–2) returns to the DWCS stage after a first-round knockout win in Elite Xtreme Fighting in April.
Paxton vs. Perez Preview
Logan Paxton
- 10–1 Overall
- 7–0 (T)KO
- 2–0 SUB
Logan Paxton makes his DWCS debut on a dominant run of form, capped by eight straight stoppage victories. The “Warverine” mauls his opponents with relentless forward pressure, though his competition level remains suspect. Fresh off a 33-second TKO win over R.J. Hoyt on Anthony Pettis FC in November, the 31-year-old American will attempt to translate that overwhelming fight style in the toughest test of his career.
Cristian Perez
- 14–2 Overall
- 5–1 (T)KO
- 6–0 SUB
A UFC contract seemingly slipped through Cristian Perez’s fingers after his first DWCS appearance last year. After smothering Manoel Sousa on the ground for the first two rounds, the Mexican prospect, 27, faded late and got stopped in the final frame. At his best, “Puas” is a calculated striker with a dangerous submission game. If he can return with an improved gas tank on Tuesday night, he’s going to be tough to beat.
Paxton vs. Perez Prediction, Pick
While an eight-fight stoppage streak is by no means an easy task, Logan Paxton’s strength of schedule raises questions heading into Tuesday night. It seems unlikely that he’ll find similar success in blitzing the technically sound Cristian Perez, who can lean on his formidable ground game if things get hectic on the feet. “Puas” is the more well-rounded and battle-tested prospect and should redeem himself in his return to DWCS.
Prediction: Cristian Perez to Win (-225)
Lean: Cristian Perez by Submission
