Season 10 of Dana White’s Contender Series continues on Tuesday night, with the Week 2 action featuring a light heavyweight clash between Alik Lorenz and Mahamed Aly.
Both fighters are eager to bounce back after getting stopped within 30 seconds of their DWCS debuts against surging prospects. Lorenz (7–2) rebounded in March with a 24-second knockout of Gabriel Thimoteo in LFA. That same month, Aly (5–1) picked up a first-round knockout of his own against Diego Peclat in Shogun Fights.

Alik Lorenz returns to the DWCS stage after having the misfortune of making his debut last August against Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev, an undefeated prospect who has opened his UFC career with three straight first-round finishes. The 29-year-old American returned to the win column earlier this year with a 24-second TKO win over Gabriel Thimoteo in LFA, preserving his 100 percent finish rate. Lorenz wields fight-ending power, but he’s also been on the receiving end of a pair of quick finishes in his career. His compromised durability may be his biggest question mark heading into Tuesday night.

Similar to Lorenz, Mahamed Aly drew the short end of the stick in his DWCS debut last September. The 32-year-old Brazilian got steamrolled by prized Polish prospect Iwo Baraniewski, who has won his first three UFC bouts within 90 seconds. Aly is a world champion jiu-jitsu specialist with serious power in his hands, though he’s leaned far more on the latter since transitioning to MMA. That much was clear in his latest bout against Diego Peclat on Shogun Fights, when he secured his fourth career win by knockout or TKO. Entering Tuesday with a more well-rounded skill set, time will tell if he can put it all together.

Tuesday’s light heavyweight clash pits a pair of knockout artists who both got starched in their DWCS debuts. Alik Lorenz enters with explosiveness, while Mahamed Aly has favored his hands over his decorated grappling since stepping into the cage. With the results of their last DWCS fights in mind, this one seems poised to end with someone seeing stars.
