The top-50 players in the FedExCup standings will be competing at Bellerive Country Club (par 70, 7,448 yards, bentgrass greens) in St. Louis, Missouri, for the BMW Championship. There will not be a cut, and following this event, the top 30 players in the standings will advance to next week’s TOUR Championship to conclude the FedExCup Playoffs. Bellerive last hosted the PGA Championship in 2018 when Brooks Koepka (-16) won by two shots.
Below, I have featured my two favorite bets for the BMW Championship on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Tom Kim for a top-10 finish including ties (+220)
Kim has finished inside the top-10 four times this season, three of which have come in his last seven starts. Kim finished solo third at the U.S. Open in June – which is his best major finish to date – he won the Genesis Scottish Open in July by two strokes and finished T5th at the Wyndham Championship two weeks ago.
To follow up that performance, Kim finish T12th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship last week and he carded a 7-under 63 in the third round at TPC Southwind. Kim’s irons have been magnificent, gaining strokes on approach in 11 straight starts and ranking second in SG APP when we analyze this field’s last 24 rounds.
Kim has never struck the ball better in his career, which bodes extremely well for Bellerive. When Koepka won the 2018 PGA Championship here, he finished the major eighth in SG APP. In fact, five of the top-10 finishers finished the week top-10 in SG APP.
Kim has also been one of the best par four scorers on the PGA TOUR this season, ranking fourth in par four performance – another sensational sign for Bellerive, as Koepka led the field in par four performance when he won at this par 70 in 2018. Kim has the skills to contend at Bellerive and needs to be backed for a top-10 finish at these +220 odds.
Gary Woodland for a top-20 finish including ties (+132)
While he got off to a rough start, Woodland has had a strong season. The veteran has produced seven top-20 finishes in his last 14 starts. Woodland ran away with a five-stroke win at the Houston Open in March, and more recently, he finished T10th at the 3M Open last month.
Woodland has moved himself up 76 spots in the world golf rankings to No. 47 over the course of this season and he now heads to Bellerive, which is a venue Woodland has thrived at in the past. At the 2018 PGA Championship played at Bellerive, Woodland finished T6th. The 42-year-old posted a 6-under 64 in the first round and a 4-under 66 in the second round, putting him atop the leaderboard heading into the weekend.
Rounds of 71 and 69 to close out the PGA Championship dropped Woodland down to a T6 finish. Surely, he still looks back at this as a big missed opportunity. Woodland is likely excited for a second attempt at Bellerive and his tremendous driving skills put him a great position to succeed here again.
Woodland led the field in SG OTT when he finished T6th at Bellerive in 2018. Ranking second in the metric was none other than the winner in Koepka. Traveling back to Bellerive ranking sixth in SG OTT this season, Woodland should have no problem cracking the top-20 this week.
