The BMW Championship is the next round of the FedExCup Playoffs. There are just 50 golfers left in the playoffs, with 30 spots up for grabs in the TOUR Championship.

BMW Championship: First Round Leader Picks
There are just 50 players left competing in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Some notable players like Jordan Spieth and Keith Mitchell were knocked out after the St. Jude Championship. The top 30 players will advance to the final round, so every position matters this week. There are some notable players like Tom Kim, Rickie Fowler and Gary Woodland right on the line to finish inside that top 30. This year’s BMW Championship will be played at Bellerive Country Club. The defending BMW Championship winner is Scottie Scheffler, the winner of last week’s St. Jude Championship.
Bellerive Country Club is a par-70 course that ranges 7,448 yards. The last time the PGA TOUR came to Bellerive was for the 2018 PGA Championship. Brooks Koepka beat out Tiger Woods for that major title. This is one of the longest courses on the PGA TOUR. Players who can hit the ball far off the tee, strike it well on approach and avoid three-putts will play well this week.
Sam Burns FRL (+2200)
Despite failing to close on Sundays, Sam Burns has played excellent golf over the past couple of months. In fact, Burns has played good golf for most of the year, including a T7 finish at The Masters. However, the past few weeks have been world-class. He finished T4 at The Memorial, T20 at the Canadian Open, was the runner-up at the U.S. Open, finished T12 at the Travelers, finished third at the Open Championship and finished T3 at last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Sam Burns has been one of the best putters in the world over the past few years, but the rest of his game is starting to catch up to that excellent putting stroke. He ranks fifth on the PGA TOUR in true strokes-gained this season. Burns also ranks second in par-four scoring average and eighth in approach putt performance, two massive indicators for Bellerive. Burns should keep his excellent play going and come out of the gate hot on Thursday.
Si Woo Kim FRL (+2900)
Si Woo Kim has been one of the most underrated players in the world this year. He has flown under the radar because he has failed to actually win a tournament, but his consistency has been off the charts. In 22 starts this year, he has 11 top-10 finishes. That is just one fewer top-10 finish than Scottie Scheffler for the most on the PGA TOUR this year. Kim has finished in the top 10 in three of his past four starts, including T6 at the Open Championship and a runner-up finish at last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Si Woo Kim ranks fourth on the PGA TOUR in Strokes Gained: Total this season. He has been inconsistent with his putter, but his ball-striking has been world-class. Kim doesn’t have the best raw putting figures, but he is an excellent lag putter. He ranks eighth on the PGA TOUR in putting from over 25 feet and in approach putt performance. Kim should avoid three-putts, which is a massive factor here. He has all the tools needed to perform at Bellerive and should play a great round on Thursday.
