It’s been a difficult season for the Athletics, and with just an hour to go before first pitch of Monday’s game against the Kansas City Royals, one of their young stars has now been ruled out.

Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson has been scratched from tonight’s lineup due to left shoulder soreness. Alika Williams will start in his place.

Wilson’s numbers have fallen off some this season after a stellar 2025. His slash line reads .266/.298/.388 with a .686 OPS, amassing 85 hits, 37 runs and 37 RBI with seven home runs in 80 games. However, his whiff and strikeout rates remain elite at just 14.8% and 11.6%.

The Athletics are just 49-75 overall this season, just one game shy of the worst record in the American League.
