What happened to Breece Hall? Injury Update for New York Jets Running Back

Updated:

By: Alex Hunter

UPDATE: Jets HC Aaron Glenn told the media Tuesday morning that Hall will be out for 2-3 weeks with the strained groin he suffered Monday, but the back is expected to be ready for the regular-season opener vs. the Titans on Sept. 17. Hall currently has an ADP of 41.9 for Best Ball drafts on DraftKings, but given this news, the back naturally should see his ADP drop slightly over the next few weeks.

Breece Hall remains the Jets’ No. 1 running back heading into the 2026-27 season, but the veteran suffered a strained groin Monday at Jets’ training camp, reportedly a non-contact injury. Hall will be further evaluated, and there is no current timeline for his return, but Jets’ HC Aaron Glenn told the media, “I don’t think it was a big deal,” when asked about the injury.

Hall posted a career-high 1,065 rushing yards this past season and found the pay-dirt five times. Hall handled 56% of New York’s carries and a 10.7% target share. With 13.7 FPTS per game, Hall finished as the No.19 running back for fantasy football.

The Jets open the regular season in less than a month, when they visit the Titans on September 17, and if Hall misses this game, Braelon Allen should operate as New York’s main rusher, with Isaiah Davis seeing work behind him.

If Hall’s injury ends up being more serious and he is expected to be sidelined for an extended period, Allen will have some merit as a late-round flier for fantasy drafts. Still, the expectations should be tempered even if he is going to start, as Allen is averaging just 3.7 yards per carry for his career and the Jets are once again expected to be one of the worst offenses in the league.
