Erling Haaland, Manchester City (£15.5m)
The most expensive player in Fantasy Premier League history was the first lock of my squad. Interestingly enough, I opted to avoid other City players in this lineup as we wait to see how positional battles shake out under Enzo Maresca. However, the best goalscorer in the world is a no-brainer for your squad.
João Pedro, Chelsea (£7.5m)
Pedro burst onto the scene for Chelsea last year, and his price makes him the perfect striker pairing alongside Erling Haaland. Pedro’s minutes may become frustrating at times as Xabi Alonso rotates players around, but an improved Chelsea squad means more production for their best goalscorer.
Jonah Kusi-Asare, Fulham (£4.5m)
With this team designed primarily around a 3-5-2, we don’t need to commit significant money to our third striker. That allows us to maximize the starting midfield while still carrying three forwards. Kusi-Asare could also easily end up outperforming this price tag and give me weekly spot start potential.

Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United (£12.0m)
The second-highest priced 2026/27 FPL player also makes the squad, as I’m chasing elite weekly upside with both Haaland and Fernandes in my lineup. With the weekly floor these two will provide me, I can afford to target some upside budget pieces to fill out my squad around the margins.
Bryan Mbeumo, Manchester United (£8.0m)
It pains me to say this as a Manchester City fan, but I expect United to put together a solid campaign this year, with fantasy value on all four levels of the pitch. I love pairing Mbeumo with Fernandes as the two key cogs to this United attack. Both of them should rack up points via a myriad of ways weekly.
Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool (£7.0m)
Szoboszlai will stack nicely with my premier defender in Virgil van Dijk defensively, but the midfielder is also a threat offensively as one of the Premier League’s most versatile players. I love the value at £7.0m. He may not explode every week, but Szoboszlai provides a fantastic floor with clear upside.
Enzo Le Fée, Sunderland (£6.0m)
Le Fée is a value darling for many experienced FPL managers heading into the year, and for good reason. The 26-year-old can contribute as a scorer or playmaker, also offering some value defensively despite his role as a CAM. I’m building this squad around a midfield group that can do it all, and he fits the bill.
Iliman Ndiaye, Everton (£6.0m)
There’s a bit of uncertainty surrounding Ndiaye, as a potential transfer could be in the works. However, those rumors appeared to have cooled, and assuming he stays with Everton he should be a candidate for weekly starting-caliber fantasy production. He provides guaranteed minutes with production upside as a scorer or playmaker.

Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool (£6.5m)
Gabriel (£8m) is simply too pricy for my liking, and the multitude of high-priced City defenders aren’t enticing until their formaton and roles are solidified. That leaves van Dijk as my top defender, and he’ll provide a strong weekly floor with set-piece scoring potential.
Neco Williams, Nottingham Forest (£5.0m)
Williams is my favorite value pick in FPL this year. It’s not often you find a £5.0m defender who really operates as more of an attacker. There could be some down weeks, but there’s room for Williams to drastically outperform this pre-season price tag.
Harry Maguire, Manchester United (£5.0m)
Adding to the Manchester United stack with Maguire, who will likely never pop but should provide a solid weekly floor within a consistent defense. There’s also set-piece goal potential for the seasoned veteran. Luke Shaw is also a popular pick in this defensive unit, but if you can stretch the extra £0.5m I’d give the slight edge to Maguire.
Ezri Konsa, Aston Villa (£4.5m)
Fresh off a strong World Cup showing for England, Konsa has potential to rotate in with Maguire as my third defender. He provides a ton of upside at his price point, while also offering a decent floor. You can’t ask for much more from a £4.5m CB.
Milan van Ewijk, Coventry City (£4.0m)
If all goes to plan, van Ewijk shouldn’t see my starting lineup. That said, I wanted to target a player who will actually see the field and offer point potential with my fifth defender, and the 25-year-old does exactly that.

Bart Verbruggen, Brighton (£4.5m)
Verbruggen is among the most popular FPL goalkeepers entering the year, given his value price tag and situation in a solid defensive Brighton side. If you’re not looking to spend up at the position, he’s your man.
Jason Steele, Brighton (£4.0m)
Taking Verbruggen’s backup makes sense at this position, as I’m securing weekly points one way or another within a strong defensive squad.
