With the victory, Makhachev (29–1, 18–1 UFC) surpassed Anderson Silva for the longest winning streak in promotional history (17).
Makhachev, who entered as a heavy -340 moneyline favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook, overwhelmed the Irish challenger with his suffocating ground game — even scoring a headkick knockdown in the second round.
The win halted a series of stunning championship upsets in 2026 — following Sean Strickland’s decision win over Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 328 and Justin Gaethje’s stoppage victory over Ilia Topuria at the White House.
Machado Garry (17–2, 10–2 UFC) showcased impressive defensive grappling, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the formidable champion. The loss snapped a two-fight winning streak.
Makhachev was the second champion to defend his belt at UFC 330, following Mackenzie Dern’s dominant strawweight title win over Gillian Robertson.
