What happened to Hunter Goodman? Injury updates for Rockies vs. Giants 8/15/26

The Colorado Rockies take on the San Francisco Giants just after 4 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon. However, one of the MLB’s top sluggers won’t be in the lineup for this contest following a late-afternoon scratch.

Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman won’t play today after being scratched from the lineup due to left shoulder inflammation.

Goodman has been one of the most impressive hitters in the MLB this year. He boasts a slash line of .251/.320/.541 with an .861 OPS. He’s a strikeout-heavy hitter, but his 34 home runs rank third in the NL – quite the feat for the fourth-year catcher – and already surpassed his previous career-best of 31.

The Rockies do continue to struggle though. Their 49-73 record is the worst of any NL club and the run differential is -113. They remain last in the NL West, but did beat the Giants yesterday to open their current series.
