PITCHER
Stud
Jesus Luzardo, Philadelphia Phillies at Minnesota Twins ($10,200) — Luzardo is having a great season. He’s averaging a career-high 97.1 mph on his fastball, while the 2.82 FIP is the lowest since his six-outing rookie season. He has posted a 22.3% K-BB% and served up only 12 home runs in 143.2 innings. The average exit velocity is 87 mph with a 5.8% barrel rate. He’s put up over 30 FPTS seven times, including back-to-back outings heading into Saturday. Minnesota ranks 23rd in ISO and 14th in wRC+ against left-handed pitching.
Value
Hayden Wesneski, Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners ($6,800) — Wesneski has only pitched 18.2 innings, so the sample size is small. His 4.31 FIP is higher than his 3.86 ERA, while the strikeout rate is only 16%. His career average is 22.4%. That said, he’s put up over 12 FPTS in each of his three starts and is relatively cheap. The matchup is also favorable as Seattle is seventh in strikeouts, 25th in ISO, 29th in wOBA, and 16th in wRC+.
INFIELD
Stud
Willson Contreras, Boston Red Sox at Pittsburgh Pirates ($5,200) — Contreras has 24 home runs, 60 runs, 72 RBIs, and three stolen bases in 456 plate appearances. He has posted a 90.4 mph average exit velocity with a 14.4% barrel rate and 77.1 mph bat speed. He owns a 150 wRC+, a .239 ISO, and 17 home runs against right-handed pitching. Jared Jones averages 98.2 mph on his fastball, but he’s been more successful against lefties this year. His FIP against lefties is 3.67 compared to 4.88 against righties, while the K-BB% is 3.8 percentage points lower when facing the latter.
Value
Angel Genao, Cleveland Guardians vs. San Diego Padres ($2,900) — Genao has been up in the majors since August 5, a span of eight games and 30 plate appearances. He’s put up fantasy goodies in all but two of those contests, while recording a home run and a stolen base over that span. He has posted a 93.1 mph average exit velocity with a 12% barrel rate. Against righties, he owns a 172 wRC+ and a .176 ISO. Randy Vasquez has allowed a 91.4 mph average exit velocity and a 10.9% barrel rate. Lefties are slashing .311/.363/.515 with eight homers against him.
OUTFIELD
Stud
Chase DeLauter, Cleveland Guardians vs. San Diego Padres ($4,400) — I guess we’re stacking against Vasquez. DeLauer is slashing .285/.359/.445 with a 10.6% walk rate and 14.2% strikeout rate. The average exit velocity is 91.2 mph. Against right-handed pitching, he’s crushed 11 of his 13 home runs with a 120 wRC+ and a .174 ISO. He’s put up double-digit FPTS in three straight games and is riding an 11-game fantasy-goodies streak.
Value
Austin Hays, San Diego Padres at Cleveland Guardians ($2,700) — Hays made his Padres debut three games ago. He’s gone 3-for-9 with a home run and three RBIs, posting double-digit FPTS in two of those contests. Hays owns a .198 ISO and a 125 wRC+ in his career against left-handed pitching. Joey Cantillo has been better against righties this season, though he has served up 12 home runs and allowed a .270/.352/.431 slash to the split.
