It’s always a good day when these two star-studded teams face off. The Indiana Fever have been absolutely red-hot offensively and host a Dallas squad holding on by a thread to the 7th seed in the current playoff picture.
Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, with Indiana entering as 8.5-point favorites and the total sitting at 185.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Let’s get into it!
Wings vs. Fever Preview
This has been the summer of Fever scoring, with Indiana’s offense sitting firmly at No. 1 in points per game (96.2), offensive rating (115.0), and field goal percentage (48.7%). A huge contributor to that offensive success is, well, Caitlin Clark, but I’m talking about Kelsey Mitchell. Mitchell has been the definition of a bucket in 2026, averaging 24.3 PPG, second-best in the league behind reigning MVP A’ja Wilson, and is averaging 29.2 points over her last five. Clark adds 21.7 PPG, while Aliyah Boston rounds out the Big 3 with 17.0 points per game, generating the league’s current top offense.
However, defensively is where the flaws begin to show. Indiana allows 90.4 points per game to opponents, generating plenty of shootouts. Plus, the Fever struggle to handle the rock, turning the ball over 15.3 times per game, tied for second-most in the league, with Clark contributing 4.8 of those per game.
Those two weaknesses are where the Wings can exploit Indiana and push for an upset on Friday night. Dallas turns the ball over at the lowest rate in the league (14.7%), and if they can snag a few steals from Indiana’s lack of ball security, those extra buckets could be the difference between a win and a loss.
Dallas’ offense isn’t too shabby either, sitting fifth in offensive rating and sixth in points scored per game (89.0). Bueckers continues to be a consistent scorer with 22.0 PPG. However, Arike Ogunbowale has slowed her production through August, dropping her average to 14.0 PPG. She had a bounce-back outing last game, dropping 21 points, and Dallas will absolutely need another big game from her to keep this one competitive. On paper, Dallas’ defense outranks Indiana with a 107.4 rating and just 86.3 points allowed per game, meaning the Wings could steal a road win if they can get stops while making their own shots fall.
Wings vs. Fever Preview Pick, Best Bet
I honestly think this is a bit too large of a spread for the talent on Dallas’ roster, but I also can’t undermine the huge success of Indiana’s offense. I’m backing the Wings to grab a few turnovers, play fast, and stay close enough to be within striking distance of an upset.
DAL +8.5 (-118)
