Texas’ quest for a postseason spot will likely depend on the pitching of Jacob deGrom. So far in 2026, the two-time Cy Young winner has been decent but not at the level we’ve come to expect. Through 118.2 innings pitched (22 starts), he’s accounted for a 3.87 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 144 strikeouts (10.9 K/9). However, he should get a boost tonight against the Angels. Los Angeles is averaging an MLB-worst 3.57 runs per game at home. The Halos also rank last in the league with a .571 OPS vs. right-handed pitching over their last 20 games. Texas’ ace shouldn’t have too much difficulty keeping this lineup in check.
The home team will counter with a promising young arm of its own in Walbert Urena. Ignoring a disastrous outing over the weekend, it’s been a terrific rookie campaign from the Dominican. Over 101.2 innings (19 starts), he’s delivered a 2.83 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 97 strikeouts (8.6 K/9). For an unproven arm, Urena has done an exceptional job at inducing weak contact. He ranks inside the 83rd percentile in barrel rate, hard-hit rate and ground ball rate. The righty also enters tonight’s contest on an eight-game NRFI streak. As for the Rangers, they are only 24th in baseball with 4.11 runs per game. Urena has held Texas to one run over nine innings pitched this season.
Brewers vs. Dodgers NRFI (-115)
Shane Drohan isn’t a household name, but he’s been a solid presence in Milwaukee’s rotation. The 27-year-old comes into Thursday with a 3.87 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 93 strikeouts (9.0 K/9) over 1.25 innings. Interestingly enough, he’s been better on the road (3.13 ERA) compared to at home (4.37 ERA). Drohan has also allowed a first inning run just once over his last ten appearances. The fly ball specialist shouldn’t have too much trouble with Dodger Stadium’s spacious dimensions. As for the lineup, Los Angeles hasn’t been that sharp offensively in recent weeks. The defending champs rank 19th in the majors with 38 runs scored over their last ten matchups.
It’ll be Roki Sasaki making his 21st start of the season this evening. Despite possessing enviable talent, consistency has proven elusive for the Japanese hurler. With that being said, he’s beginning to show some signs of improvement on the mound. The 24-year-old has given up three earned runs or less in five straight games. He’s also provided an impressive 85.0% NRFI rate in 2026. The Brewers wield one of the league’s deepest lineups, but early success isn’t a give in. Milwaukee has posted a 20.69% YRFI rate on the road, fourth-worst in the majors.
