What happened to Willy Adames? Live injury updates for Giants vs. Astros 8/12/26

San Francisco Giants shortstop Willy Adames left Wednesday’s game early due to injury.

Adames left the outing during the eighth inning due to what appeared to be a back injury. He’s notably been dealing with a lingering back issue for some time now, so it’s possible the infielder tweaked that issue.

Adames went 1-for-3 during Wednesday’s game with a hit, a walk and a run before exiting.

It’s been a rough season for the veteran, whose .225/.285/.413 slash line is his worst of his career with a low .698 OPS. While he’s still produced 100 hits and 59 runs with 19 homers, his RBI tally is way down and a .285 OBP is a career-worst average.

The Giants were tied 1-1 with the Astros when Adames left Wednesday’s outing.
