Breanna Stewart O 21.5 Points (-106)
The Liberty are hosting the Aces on Sunday afternoon, and Las Vegas is going to be very understaffed, with A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray all being rested. While Young and Gray were active, Wilson missed the Commissioner’s Cup Final between the Aces and Liberty in late June, and Stewart took full advantage with the four-time MVP missing in the paint, posting 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting.
Stewart should have another strong performance Sunday and clear 21.5 points. The Aces’ defensive rating drops to 111.9 with Wilson off the court this season, and Stewart enters this matchup in outstanding form, scoring 24+ points in four of her first five since the All-Star break. This season, Stewart is handling a 27.7% usage rate, which is her highest rate since 2022.
Kahleah Copper U 20.5 Points (-123)
This line is way too high for Copper. First off, she is going against a Mystics team that ranks third in defensive rating and second-to-last in pace. Moreover, Kelsey Plum is now with the Mercury, which is a big concern for Copper’s usage.
Plum and Copper have played in three games together since the former was traded to Phoenix, and Copper has scored 31, 14 and 16 points in these contests, and the 31-point showing has an asterisk next to it. That was Plum’s debut with the Mercury, and she only saw 21 minutes off the bench that night. Conversely, Plum started in the following two and logged at least 26 minutes in each game.
Plum is already leading the Mercury with a 30% usage rate, and when sharing the floor with her, Copper’s usage has been at 23.9%, which is a large drop from her season average of 29.2%. Copper’s numbers are going to suffer for the rest of the season with Plum in town, and Copper topping 20.5 points vs. the Mystics would be surprising.
Paige Bueckers U 5.5 Assists (-119)
Bueckers has been struggling as of late, particularly as a playmaker. Only once in her last seven starts has Bueckers exceeded 5.5 assists. The UConn product last faced the Valkyries on Friday, and Golden State’s league-best defense held her to just one assist in 29 minutes.
Bueckers is in another brutal spot Sunday, visiting the top-seeded Lynx, who rank second in defensive rating. Bueckers has faced Minnesota three times this season, and she has finished with eight, two and four assists in those tilts. Azzi Fudd (knee) is questionable for the Wings, and if she sits, Bueckers will be in an even worse position to rack up assists. Bueckers’ assist rate drops 5.1 percentage points to 22.3% with Fudd off the floor, and 27% of Bueckers’ assists have gone to Fudd this season.
