Guardians vs. White Sox game delayed due to rain Sunday 8/9/26

UPDATE: The tarp has been removed from the field and the Guardians vs. White Sox matchup is expected to resume at 4:00 p.m. CT or 5:00 p.m. ET.

Today’s Cleveland Guardians at Chicago White Sox matchup has entered a rain delay due to inclement weather. In the top of the second inning, with the Guardians holding a 2-1 lead, the conditions were determined to be unplayable, and the game will pause until the weather clears. 

Joey Cantillo and Davis Martin are the two starting pitchers in the matchup, and they could see a lighter workload than was likely the plan due to the conditions. There is currently no estimated target time for when the game will resume.

At the time of the delay, the Guardians have climbed to -191 favorites to get the victory on DraftKings Sportsbook. The White Sox hold +165 odds of pulling off the win, with the run total set at 10.5.
