There is a great match going down in Toronto at 8:10 p.m. ET on Saturday night. The World No. 9 Elina Svitolina takes on the World No. 10 Amanda Anisimova with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line.

Here is my full preview of the Round of 16 match between Elina Svitolina and Amanda Anisimova at the 2026 Canadian Open.

Elina Svitolina vs. Amanda Anisimova Preview, Prediction

Amanda Anisimova Preview

It has been an incredibly disappointing season for Amanda Anisimova. Anisimova was one of the great stories not just in tennis but in all of sports in 2025. After taking a break from the game due to mental health issues, she made her return and played the best tennis of her life last year. Anisimova made trips to back-to-back major finals at Wimbledon and the US Open. However, after a decent quarterfinal finish at the Australian Open to start the year, it has been all downhill since.

Amanda Anisimova was bounced in the third round at both Roland-Garros and Wimbledon this summer. Also, after winning two WTA 1000 titles last year, she has yet to even make a WTA 1000 final in 2026. Anisimova was a finalist here in Toronto in 2024 when she first made her return to the sport. So, maybe some success here could be carried into the US Open and allow her to finish the season strong. However, more struggles over the next few weeks could see Anisimova drop out of the top 10 in the world.

Elina Svitolina Preview

It has been a much better 2026 season for Elina Svitolina. The 31-year-old is playing some of the best tennis of her life in 2026. She made the semifinals at the Australian Open and the quarterfinals at Roland-Garros. Svitolina has also performed brilliantly at the WTA 1000 events this year. She made the final in Dubai, the semifinals in Indian Wells and won her first WTA 1000 since 2018 at the Italian Open. Svitolina has gotten it done on both clay and hardcourt this year and could end the season strong with this North American hardcourt swing.

Elina Svitolina vs. Amanda Anisimova Picks, Best Bets

My best bet is on Elina Svitolina to get the win. Despite having to lay some juice on the Moneyline, she is the player to back in this match. Svitolina has also dominated Anisimova over the years. Fittingly, the last time these two faced off was in the Round of 16 at the 2025 Canadian Open. Anisimova had just made the Wimbledon final and was a few weeks away from making the US Open final, truly at the peak of her powers. However, Svitolina defeated her 6-4, 6-1. That improved Svitolina’s career head-to-head against Anisimova to 4-1. She should knock Anisimova out of this tournament for the second straight year and get the win on Saturday night.

Best Bet: Elina Svitolina Moneyline (-150)
