We’re down to the final event of the PGA TOUR regular season, as players head to Sedgefield Country Club for the Wyndham Championship. Along with the final FedExCup Playoff spots on the line, DraftKings users can once again compete in DraftKings PGA Pick6 contests across all four rounds. If you’re new to Pick6, it’s a single-user daily fantasy game where you predict whether golfers will finish over or under their assigned statistical projections.
Sedgefield Country Club is one of the shortest courses on TOUR, measuring just over 7,100 yards, but while low scores are available, it often produces a dramatic tournament and tight leaderboard. The Donald Ross design rewards precision over power, placing a premium on accurate driving, elite iron play, and converting birdie opportunities on receptive Bermuda greens. Past champions such as Aaron Rai, Lucas Glover, Tom Kim, and Kevin Kisner all fit a similar profile, relying on accuracy and approach play rather than overwhelming distance.
The 2026 field is headlined by defending champion Cameron Young, who returns to the site of his breakthrough PGA TOUR victory after another outstanding season. With the FedExCup Playoffs beginning next week, players hovering around the top-70 cutoff have plenty to play for, creating one of the deepest and most motivated fields of the summer. I break down the key course trends and player statistics in the Wyndham Championship PGA Cheat Sheet, with additional course notes below to help you build your Pick6 card.
“Sedgefield isn’t long at around 7,100 or so yards, and in past years it’s yielded some low scores—including recently in 2018 when the winner (Brandt Snedeker) shot 59 in round one. The greens are Bermuda (since 2012), and they can be slightly tricky, but as they have matured, scores here have gotten lower. Of the last nine winners, seven have now reached 20 under-par or better at this event. This is important to note as players with affinities for Bermuda grass tend to have a big advantage as the green complexes always yield some monster-putting weeks.
The course itself is a nice mix of semi-challenging holes and some extremely moderate-to-easy ones. As a traditional par 70, there are two very reachable and very birdie-able par 5s on this track, and any player hoping to be in the mix will have to play these two well under par for the week. Winners have tended to play these holes nearly a shot better than par for the week.
As for how important iron play is at Sedgefield, four of the participants from the 2021 six-man playoff gained over 5.0 strokes for the week on approach, and the top three finishers from 2023 all gained over 4.0 strokes on approach. 2024 winner, Aaron Rai, gained over 8.8 strokes on approach alone. Last year’s champion Cameron Young gained over 3.0 strokes on approach but went white-hot on the greens, gaining over 10+ strokes putting for the week, which led the field. Assuming you are capable of clubbing down and finding fairways, approach and putting are pretty much all that matter this week for the pros.”
As of now, we have Round 1 totals up on the Pick6 site for play, so that’s where we’ll be focusing this week. The players out first are expected to have slightly better conditions with winds picking up slightly throughout the day. If you’re targeting stroke totals or birdie-or-better totals, keep that in mind.
With that in mind, I’ve focused on a few of my favorite plays for the Wyndham Championship in Round 1 below.
Top DraftKings Pick6 Plays for the 2026 Wyndham Championship
Alex Smalley More Than 4.0 birdies or better
Smalley is a North Carolina native and a member at Sedgefield, so, experience-wise, he has most of the field beat this week. Moreover, the American has shown better scoring upside this season and the ability to post 4.0 birdies or better at an easier course like Sedgefield on a consistent basis. He comes into this year’s event ranked 46th in BoB%, and despite missing the cut at the Wyndham last year, he’s consistently shown the ability to generate birdie chances throughout 2026, averaging more than four birdies per round.
He also enters the week off a respectable made cut at The Open, where he gained strokes on ball-striking and was only let down by a weak putter, a club that has been a strength all year. Smalley is likely to flip positive on the greens this week given the course. This suggests, of course, that his game is in solid enough shape to take advantage of a birdie-friendly setup and beat his projection of 4.0 birdies or better.
Chris Kirk Less Than 68.5 strokes
Kirk is one of my favorite Round 1 targets this week, and I love taking him to beat this 68.5 stroke total with a round of 68 or better. The veteran has a solid track record at Sedgefield Country Club, including a T5 finish last year, when he opened with rounds of 66 and 65 before finishing at 14-under for the tournament.
Kirk’s accurate, tee-to-green style is a natural fit for Sedgefield’s short Donald Ross layout, where precision iron play and scoring on receptive Bermuda greens are rewarded over raw distance. He’s also become a bit of a Ross specialist, posting strong results at Detroit Golf Club over the years, including last season, when he narrowly missed a win, losing in a playoff. Kirk is again coming off a solid week in Detroit and enters with strong approach numbers, which surely signals his game is rounding into form. With the course regularly yielding low scores, asking Kirk to shoot 68 or better feels more than attainable, making the under on 68.5 strokes one of the stronger values on the Pick6 board this week.
Mark Hubbard Less Than 69.0 strokes
Hubbard opens with one of the more attainable Round 1 projections on the board at 69.0 strokes, and I’m happy to add him to tickets as a bullish option to shoot us a Round of 1-under or better to start. The American arrives in better form after his most recent start, where he put together two strong opening rounds before fading over the weekend, showing his iron game is trending in the right direction. He’s also generally been a fast starter when he finds form. Last week in Detroit, he opened with rounds of 66 and 68, and earlier in the year he made four solo starts in a row, shooting 2-under or better in all four events.
Sedgefield Country Club has also been one of Hubbard’s better venues. He finished T3 at the 2025 Wyndham Championship, proving he can take advantage of this short, accuracy-first layout. It’s a venue where I’d expect him to show up and play well more often than not. Overall, asking Hubbard to shoot 68 or better feels like a fair target given his recent form and excellent course history, especially compared to the rest of the field, who have worse numbers but are markedly better in form or talent.
