The Orioles sold off several key pieces at the trade deadline, including catcher Adley Rutschman. Still, the core of an above average offense remains largely in tact, thanks in part to Pete Alonso. Signed this offseason from the Mets, it’s been a solid debut in Baltimore for the slugger. Over 112 games, he’s slashing .251/.346/.465 with a team-leading 23 home runs. 14 of those dingers have come when playing at Camden Yards. The O’s will welcome back an old friend tonight in Grayson Rodriguez. It’s been a brutal campaign so far for the right-hander (7.98 ERA). He’s also on the hook for a lackluster 1.8 HR/9 ratio this season. Alonso is batting .287 with 11 homers at home against right-handers, so this is a spot he’s thrived in before.
Bryce Harper to hit 1+ home run (+290)
On a re-tooled Phillies lineup, Bryce Harper remains the straw that stirs the drink. Added run scoring chances, and increased at-bats, are an inevitable result of Monday’s Luis Arraez trade for Philadelphia. Nobody is better served to take advantage of the opportunity than the two-time MVP. While he isn’t making contact at a high rate, Harper remains one of baseball’s most intimidating hitters. He’s currently slashing .251/.359/.503 with 24 home runs. The veteran ranks within the National League’s 11 best hitters in the latter two categories. Tonight’s contest presents a golden opportunity against Zack Littell. The 30-year-old is on the hook for a 4.94 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 2.1 HR/9 ratio. The righty has surrendered 11 long balls in 40.2 innings on the road (2.5 HR/9). Keeping that in mind, a southpaw slugger such as Harper makes sense tonight.
Jesus Sanchez to hit 1+ home run (+551)
Looking for a long shot at better than five-to-one odds? Jesus Sanchez is your man. Granted, the outfielder hasn’t had a massive impact with the Blue Jays this season. Then again, who has outside of Ernie Clement and Kazuma Okamoto? Toronto’s sputtering offense could get a boost this evening against Hayden Wesneski. Houston’s hurler will be taking the mound for just the second time since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2025. During his season debut last week, Wesneski tossed 5.2 innings of three-run ball against the Angels. Not bad, but it’s a small sample size. The fifth-year pro’s biggest weakness is giving up homers; he owns a career 1.7 HR/9 ratio. Enter Sanchez, who specializes in these kind of spots. The Dominican is hitting .289 with seven homers in just 194 at-bats against right-handed pitching. That alone is enough reason to back Sanchez on Tuesday night.
