The Georgia Bulldogs enter the 2026 season as the favorites in the SEC, and with good reason. While the conference is always tough, Kirby Smart has molded the Dawgs into the model of consistency, particularly since Nick Saban departed Alabama. Georgia has won both SEC Championship Games since Saban retired, and three of the last four overall — with the lone loss to ‘Bama in Saban’s final season. Since the 2020 Covid season, UGA has won double digit regular season games in each of the last five seasons. It appears unlikely that streak ends in 2026. Let’s breakdown some futures on the Bulldogs below.
Georgia Bulldogs Win Total & SEC Predictions
Georgia was riding a 33-game home winning streak into last season’s matchup with Alabama, who went to Athens and ended one of the more impressive runs in college football. Nonetheless, UGA has an absurd 53-2 record at home since 2017. The loss to ‘Bama was the only loss for UGA in the regular season in 2025, finishing with an 11-1 record. The Bulldogs got revenge on the Tide in a dominant SEC title game, but lost their College Football Playoff game coming off the bye for the second straight year — to Ole Miss in 2025 and Notre Dame in 2024.
UGA lost road games to Ole Miss and ‘Bama in that 2024 season, going 10-2 in the regular season — but went on to defeat Texas as an underdog in the SEC Championship. Prior to that, Georgia went a perfect 12-0 in the regular season in 2023, 2022 and 2021. Simply put, this program is machine-like. If the five-year sample of dominance isn’t enough for you, removing the shortened 2020 season, UGA went 11-1 in each of the three previous seasons of 2019, 2018 and 2017.
The only time Kirby Smart has coached Georgia in a full 12-game season and not won 10 or more games was in his first season at the helm in 2016. That’s eight consecutive 12-game seasons of at least 10 wins — four of them with 11 wins and three of them with a perfect 12 wins.
So the question becomes, has this Georgia team dropped off enough to end that streak and win fewer than 10 games?
The Bulldogs lost some talent to the NFL as they always do, but return plenty. A total of 14 starters return from 2025, and Smart consistently retains his own recruits, as one of Phil Steele’s highest-ranked homegrown talent rosters. Gunner Stockton returns for his second full season as QB1, along with an extremely experienced offensive line and a loaded running back room, headlined by Nate Frazier.
The tight end room is also deep with talent, starting with the senior Lawson Luckie. If we can point to any weakness on the offense, it’s the wide receiver room, but the Dawgs did bring in Isiah Canion from Georgia Tech and Talyn Taylor as a talented freshman.
The defensive side of the ball just seems to reload at Georgia. Constantly one of the nastiest defenses in the country, the Bulldogs have a strong secondary and plenty of pass rushers. UGA struggled generating sacks last season, but managed to get by because of the rest of the talent. Smart added some transfers there, and the rest of the unit is a year more experienced and ready to make big plays.
Phil Steele ranks Georgia No. 3 overall in the nation, and in the top-10 in nearly all of his position rankings. Steele has the Dawgs ranked the following at each position nationally: QB (4), RB (6), WR (35), OL (7), DL (9), LB (5), DB (3).
Athlon ranks Georgia No. 2 overall in the nation, and top-three at every position in the SEC, outside of WR. It also ranks UGA atop the position rankings in the SEC at OL, LB and DB. Nationally, Athlon ranks UGA’s positions as QB (7), RB (2), OL (2), DL (8), LB (1) and DB (6).
Lindy’s might be the lowest on Georgia, still ranking them No. 6 in the country. But other than the WR position, Lindy’s still puts the Bulldogs as a top-10 unit at every single other position. Pick Six Previews has Georgia ranked a top-two unit in the SEC at every position but RB (4) and WR/TE combined (9).
Long story short, this team is loaded, and that’s why Georgia is a favorite in all 12 games this season. I mentioned the insane 53-2 record at home, dating back to 2017, and UGA will benefit from only playing four road games on the schedule. The Bulldogs have seven true home games, and the usual “neutral” game against Florida happens to be played in Atlanta this season — on UGA’s other home turf. Georgia is currently -10 against Oklahoma in the DraftKings Game of the Year line in Week 4, meaning it checks in as a double digit favorite in all eight of those home games.
The Dawgs should also be double digit road favorites when they visit Arkansas and South Carolina during SEC play. Basically, if UGA can avoid a loss as a double digit favorite, they reach the 10-win mark. However, I think they can do even better than that. Georgia’s two toughest tasks of the season come when its priced as a -3 favorite at Alabama on October 10 and a -4.5 favorite at Ole Miss on November 7.
Both of those games set up as terrific revenge spots, specifically at Ole Miss. While UGA got the last laugh against Alabama in the SEC Championship last in December, the Bulldogs will still be looking to get ‘Bama back for snapping that 33-game winning streak in Athens last year. And Ole Miss just so happens to be the team that bounced UGA from the CFP in January, so you know Smart has that one circled.
Georgia is in tremendous position to do what it does each and every season — win 10-plus games. Both the talent on the roster and the schedule set up ideally to do so. That will put the Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game in December in Atlanta, where I’d favor them against anyone in the conference.
It’s been one-way money on UGA’s win total so far this summer, with a 99% ticket count and handle on OVER 9.5. That’s a little concerning, but I think bettors are simply identifying that 9.5 is always a play on this team, and that 10.5 is probably the more reasonable number. It’s not like the Bulldogs are being overhyped by the public, as they only have a 12% ticket count to win the SEC and 10% of the bets to win the National Championship (splits as of August 1).
My two favorite college football futures for the 2026 season are calling for Georgia to go over their win total and win yet another SEC Championship.
Win Total Pick: Georgia OVER 9.5 (-180)
SEC Championship Game Pick: Georgia (+280)
