The PGA TOUR is hosting the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club (par 70, 7,131 yards, Bermuda greens) in Greensboro, North Carolina, which is the final event before the FedEx Cup Playoffs. The Wyndham Championship has been played at Sedgefield CC since 2008 and Cameron Young (-22) won by six shots at this course last season for his first PGA TOUR victory. There will be 145 players competing and a top-65 and ties cut after the first two rounds this week. Following the Wyndham Championship, only the top-70 players in the FedEx Cup standings will qualify for next week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship, which is the first of three consecutive events for the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Like last week’s Detroit Golf Club, Sedgefield CC was designed by the great Donald Ross. This is a tree-lined par 70 that presents narrow fairways, small greens, 52 bunkers and water in play on six holes. Sedgefield is a course that favors accuracy over distance and we will see players club down often this week to find the fairway more often. To win at this course, you need to perform well with both your irons and putter. Over the last five years, four of the winners at Sedgefield have finished the event top-12 in SG APP. Moreover, four of the winners have finished the tournament top-eight in SGP.
Scoring on the par fours is most important at Sedgefield, as this is a classic par 70 with 12 par fours. Young led his field in par four performance last season, making him the third Wyndham Championship victor over the last four years to finish the event top-four in par four performance. Eight of the 12 par fours at Sedgefield fall between 400-450 yards, so finding players who score well on this length of hole is a sharp move.

Top DraftKings PGA TOUR DFS Bargain Plays for the Wyndham Championship
J.T. Poston ($7,400) – Don’t let Poston missing the cut at the Open Championship in his last start stop you from rostering him at this cheap salary. Poston has never fared well at the Open Championship, missing the cut in 4-of-5 starts at the major. Conversely, he has been excellent at the Wyndham Championship, putting Poston in a great position to bounce back this week.
Poston won at Sedgefield in 2019 and has finished T-21, T-7, MC and T-11 at the venue the last four years. Poston has made 5-of-9 cuts at Sedgefield CC and he has an 8-under 62 on his resume at this course, which is one short of his career low. The Open Championship is only the second time in his last 12 starts that Poston has missed the cut and he has finished inside the top-25 four times over this span, including a win at the Memorial and a T-4 at the U.S. Open in back-to-back starts in June. Poston ranks 12th in SGP when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds and he should rebound with at least a top-30 finish this week.
Bud Cauley ($7,400) – Cauley has made 6-of-10 cuts at Sedgefield with four top-25 finishes. His best showing at this Ross creation is a solo third place finish in 2012, when Cauley finished just three shots back of the winner. The veteran returns to Sedgefield in the midst of his best season on the PGA TOUR.
Cauley has made 16-of-19 cuts and produced eight top-25 finishes, four of which have come in his last six starts, most notably with his breakthrough win at the RBC Canadian Open in June. Cauley won by two strokes at TPC Toronto and he is fresh off a T-18 at the Open Championship, which is the best performance of his career at the major. Cauley ranks 25th in SGT2G this season and is way underpriced for his form.
Ricky Castillo ($7,100) – Castillo has quietly been one of the most reliable cut makers on the PGA TOUR this season, missing only one cut in 16 starts. The former Florida Gator is less than five months removed from his win at the Puerto Rico Open in March and Castillo is on the heels of a T-20 at the Rocket Classic this past week.
Castillo gained strokes on approach and with his putter, and he shot under par in every round at the Ross-designed Detroit Golf Club. Castillo now heads to another Ross design in Sedgefield, where Castillo finished T-23 in his first attempt last season, including a 5-under 65 in the first round. As he is far more polished nowadays, Castillo absolutely could outdo himself with a higher finish this week. The 25-year-old returns to Sedgefield as the No. 96-ranked player in the world, which is 129 spots higher than his ranking heading into last year’s Wyndham Championship.
