Rae Burrell O 20.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-127)
The Sparks traded Kelsey Plum to the Mercury last night, officially clearing the way for Burrell to see a featured role for the rest of the season. Plum has been sidelined since late June with a leg injury and Burrell has been awesome in her absence. In her last two, Burrell has posted 20 points, three rebounds and two assists vs. the Mercury, and 24 points, three rebounds and three assists vs. the Liberty.
Burrell is averaging 17.9 points, 3.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 32.7 minutes per game in her last eight, and she has cleared 20.5 PRA in all but two of these contests. Burrell’s usage rises 2.7 percentage points to 24.2% with Plum off the floor and 20.5 PRA is too low of a line for Burrell in a beautiful matchup vs. the Fire on Sunday, who rank second-to-last in defensive rating.
Natasha Howard U 11.5 Points (+102)
With superstar Napheesa Collier back in the picture, Howard’s numbers and role have suffered. Playing alongside Collier for the past three, Howard has scored 11, 13 and nine points while garnering a 16.8% usage rate. Before this, the veteran was averaging a 22.4% usage rate with Collier sidelined for the first 27 games of the season.
Sunday presents a marquee matchup vs. the Fever. Indiana ranks eighth in defensive rating this season, but this defense is elite inside, giving up the fewest points in the paint per game in the WNBA (43.7). This is bad news for Howard, as 64.6% of her shots this season have come at the rim and her falling short of 11.5 points is a strong possibility in this matchup.
Kayla Thornton O 8.5 Points (-119)
Thornton is in a great spot tonight vs. the Tempo, who rank dead last in defensive rating and fourth in pace. The veteran has scored 11+ points in four of her last six and to begin this run, Thornton posted 15 points vs. the same Toronto squad she’ll face Sunday.
Thornton shot 4-of-6 from the field that night and she could see a boost to her role this evening if Valkyries’ leading scorer Gabby Williams (questionable, reconditioning) sits. Nonetheless, Thornton has a terrific chance to top 8.5 points with or without Williams and is an excellent bet for this over.
