Serbian bantamweight prospect Borislav Nikolic makes his Octagon debut in his backyard, taking a short-notice bout against Russia’s Mark Vologdin at UFC Fight Night: Medic vs. Rodriguez in Belgrade.

Nikolic (16–2, 0–0 UFC), the former Brave CF bantamweight champion, arrives in MMA’s flagship promotion on a six-fight stoppage streak — punctuated by a second-round TKO win over Matheus Malta in February. Vologdin (12–4–2, 0–0–1 UFC), who was originally slated to face Josias Musasa, is eyeing his first UFC win after fighting to a draw in his April debut against John Castaneda.

Nikolic enters as a -185 moneyline favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook. Vologdin is a +154 underdog, with the fight total set at O/U 2.5 rounds.

Nikolic vs. Vologdin Preview

Borislav Nikolic

  • 16–2 (0–0 UFC)
  • 7–0 (T)KO
  • 8–1 SUB

Borislav Nikolic didn’t flinch when offered a short-notice UFC debut in his home country. After all, his exceptional resume — stuffed with comeback victories and highlight-reel finishes — suggests that he’s more than qualified for a jump to the big leagues.

The former Brave CF champion, 33, arrives with a 94 percent finish rate, highlighted by six straight stoppage wins. “Zombee” wields explosive striking, a dangerous submission game, and a championship-round gas tank — a dynamic attack bolstered by his towering 5-foot-9 frame. On Saturday, he’ll aim to put it all on display as he begins his conquest of another bantamweight landscape.

Mark Vologdin

  • 12–4–2 (0–0–1 UFC)
  • 6–0 (T)KO
  • 4–1 SUB

Win, lose, or draw, Mark Vologdin delivers absolute bangers. The Russian bantamweight, 26, is one of the most exciting prospects on the active roster, known for putting on arguably the greatest fight in Dana White’s Contender Series history against Adrian Luna Martinetti. Even in a loss, Vologdin cashed a $25,000 bonus and inked a UFC contract.

Vologdin’s full-throttle style — headlined by masterful karate — made its way to the sport’s biggest stage in April, when he staged another slugfest in his debut against John Castaneda, which yielded a majority draw.

But as thrilling as it may be, Vologdin’s game plan hasn’t exactly been conducive to winning thus far inside the Octagon. While extremely durable, he plays defense as if he enjoys getting punched in the face. And at 5-foot-3, he’s certainly on the shorter side of the division. In Belgrade, enemy territory, Vologdin will likely need to prioritize returning to the win column over sending the fans home happy.

Nikolic vs. Vologdin Pick, Best Bet

Even on short notice, Borislav Nikolic enters his UFC debut with a clear edge over Mark Vologdin. With a colossal size advantage, “Zombee” should be able to pick apart his already hittable opponent at range, while feeding off the energy from the hometown crowd. A finish isn’t guaranteed considering Vologdin’s cast-iron durability, but Nikolic should get his hand raised nonetheless in Belgrade.

Best Bet: Borislav Nikolic Moneyline (-185)
