Sydney Taylor O 20.5 Points + Rebounds (-115)
Taylor has been excellent, averaging 21 points and 2.6 rebounds in 26.1 minutes per game on 48.7% shooting in her last five. The rookie surpassed 20.5 PR in all but one of these games and most recently, she posted a career-high 31 points and three rebounds vs. the Liberty in her last start.
Skylar Diggins (knee) being sidelined has been the main factor in Taylor’s strong recent play and Diggins will remain out for tonight’s matchup vs. the Sun. Taylor is leading the Sky with a 29.7% usage rate with Diggins inactive for the last seven and Connecticut is a beautiful matchup.
The Sun rank 11th in defensive rating this season and Britney Griner (knee) will be out, further softening the team’s defense. Connecticut’s defensive rating plummets to 112.2 with Griner off the floor and the club is allowing 91.4 PPG in the 12 she has missed this season. Particularly with this game at home in Chicago, where Taylor has been more productive, averaging 1.6 PPG more than when on the road, Taylor should flourish tonight.
Charlisse Leger-Walker O 2.5 Rebounds (-152)
Leger-Walker was inserted into the Sun’s lineup 11 games ago and with the starting job, the guard is averaging 3.4 rebounds per game. During this span, Leger-Walker ranks second for Connecticut in playing time at 28.6 minutes per game and she has grabbed 3+ rebounds in 8-of-11 contests.
Leger-Walker’s first start during this stretch came against the Sky and she finished a season-high seven rebounds that night. Evident from this performance, Chicago is the best matchup in the league to be active on the glass. The Sky are allowing a league-high 37.4 rebounds per game this season, which is far ahead of the Storm, who rank second with 35.6. Leger-Walker is an elite bet for over 2.5 rebounds in this spot and betting up the ladder with her is a viable move.
Pauline Astier U 8.5 Points (-126)
In the Liberty’s first game following the All-Star break, Asiter saw her smallest role in over a month. In the four-point win over the Sparks, Astier logged only 16 minutes and saw just a 9.4% usage rate, en route to only four points. Meanwhile, Marine Fauthoux logged 22 minutes off the bench and scored a season-high 13 points. Fauthoux played the majority of the second half over Astier and in the boxscore, Fauthoux finished a +13 in plus/minus while Astier was a -7.
Fauthoux’s role has been growing lately, garnering at least 18 minutes in three straight and her again seeing more work over Astier tonight vs. the Aces is a possibility. Even if Astier plays over Fauthoux, this is a tough matchup vs. the defending champions, as Las Vegas ranks sixth in defensive rating this season and Astier falling short of 8.5 points in this spot is likely. The rookie scored seven points in 19 minutes when she faced the Aces back in late June and she has stayed under 8.5 points in four of her last seven starts entering tonight.
