PITCHER

Stud

Dylan Cease, Toronto Blue Jays vs. St. Louis Cardinals ($10,700) — I do like Yoshinobu Yamamoto as well on this slate. He’s $500 cheaper and it’s well within the range of outcomes that he matches the fantasy output of Cease, especially since the Cardinals are 27th in strikeouts. That said, it’s freaking Dylan Cease with the 36.5% strikeout rate and he’s put up over 35 FPTS in three of the last four games, which includes outings of 41.6 and 50.8 FPTS. His ceiling is unrivaled.

Value

Tanner Bibee, Cleveland Guardians vs. Arizona Diamondbacks ($7,000) — Bibee is the antithesis of Cease, as the strikeout rate is 19% and he’s only topped 20 FPTS four times this season, never reaching 30 FPTS. Bibee is fairly consistent, though, failing to reach double-digit FPTS five times. Arizona is 29th in strikeouts but also only 24th in wRC+.

INFIELD

Stud

Jake Bauers, Milwaukee Brewers at Los Angeles Angels ($4,700) — Bauers has 18 home runs, 63 runs, 60 RBI and eight stolen bases in 386 plate appearances. The average exit velocity is 92.8 mph with a 13.5% barrel rate. Against right-handed pitching, the wRC+ is 140 with a .226 ISO. 15 of the 18 home runs have come off a righty. Ryan Johnson has pitched only 41.2 innings this season, but they have been painful innings. The FIP is 6.24 with an 8.3% K-BB% against lefties. He’s allowed six home runs to lefties.

Value

Jeff McNeil, Athletics vs. Detroit Tigers ($2,500) — McNeil is not the type of player I typically target, but he’s cheap. The ISO is only .086, average exit velocity is only 86.2 mph, and the barrel rate is a microscopic 1.2%. His bat speed is also only 68.3 mph. That said, McNeil has been putting up those fantasy goodies, and that’s all we care about. Over the last 10 games, he’s been shut out only once while producing double-digit FPTS six times. After replacing Kurtz on Wednesday, McNeil went 2-for-4 with a stolen base.

OUTFIELD

Stud

Dominic Canzone, Seattle Mariners vs. Minnesota Twins ($3,600) — Canzone has an average exit velocity of 92.3 mph with a 14.8% barrel rate and 74.8 mph bat speed. Against right-handed pitching, the wRC+ is 136 with a .254 ISO. 14 of the 18 home runs have come off a righty. Zebby Matthews has a 5.09 FIP and 10.3% K-BB% against lefties. He’s allowed seven home runs to lefties.

Value

Eli White, Atlanta Braves vs. Washington Nationals ($2,700) — White has only produced double-digit FPTS seven times this season, but two of those were over 20 FPTS. He did miss some time back in May due to a concussion, but he’s mostly a short side of the platoon bat, which explains only accruing 143 plate appearances on the season. Against left-handed pitching, though, the wRC+ is 108 with a .207 ISO. Four of the five home runs hit have come off a lefty. Foster Griffin has been lights out since June 5, but the FIP is still 4.19 against righties with a 13.8% K-BB%. 13 of the 17 home runs allowed have come off the bat of a righty.
