He comes into today’s game fresh off of a 5.1-inning, one-run gem last weekend in Philadelphia. Weathers has been more effective on the road (3.89 ERA) than at home (4.50 ERA). Chicago’s lineup is solid, but this group has struggled lately. The White Sox have a .669 OPS in the month of July, fifth-worst in baseball during that time.
The South Siders will hand the ball to one of their better arms in Sean Burke. Over 118.1 innings pitched (17 starts), he’s notched a 3.19 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 130 strikeouts (9.9 K/9). The righty comes into this one on a heater, allowing four earned runs combined over his previous four outings (1.40 ERA). In addition, he held New York to one run over 7.1 innings when these teams met in June. Against right-handed pitchers on the road, Yankees batters are hitting just .195 in the first inning. Keeping that in mind, Burke should come out firing on Thursday.
Marlins vs. Mets NRFI (-155)
After a dismal first few months, Eury Perez has turned his 2026 season around. Over his last eight appearances (46.1 IP), the righty has accounted for a 1.55 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 48 strikeouts (9.3 K/9). He comes into tonight’s contest on a four-game NRFI streak as well. Opposing Miami’s ace will be an already feeble Mets lineup missing Juan Soto (calf). As a unit, New York has the 11th-lowest YRFI rate in the majors (27.52%). When Perez last faced the Mets on May 22nd, he allowed just one run over 6.1 innings.
New York will counter with a young arm of their own in Nolan McLean. The 25-year-old has been a stabilizing force in an otherwise disappointing Mets rotation. During 119.1 innings pitched (21 starts), he’s delivered a 3.32 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 142 strikeouts (10.7 K/9). When McLean faced the Marlins on May 31st, he allowed just one runs over five frames. Miami has scored just 35 runs over its last ten contests, sixth-lowest in baseball during that stretch. A quiet first inning for this offense wouldn’t come as a surprise.
