MLB Best Bets Today: Top NRFI props for Wednesday 7/29/26

A 16-game, 30-team slate makes up Wednesday’s MLB action. For those looking to cash in quickly on a bet, nothing makes more sense than an NRFI. With that being said, there’s more to this one than meets the eye. Some pitchers thrive early, while others take more time to get settled in than others. Which NRFI picks are worth a closer look on Wednesday?

Ahead of today’s Major League Baseball contests, here are three NRFI bets worth placing on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Braves vs. Mets Game 2 NRFI (-155)

In the second leg of a double header, it’ll be Chris Sale taking the mound for Atlanta. Through 111.0 innings of work (19 starts), the veteran has notched an impressive 2.19 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 134 strikeouts (10.9 K/9). It’s yet another fantastic season in a career full of them for the southpaw. Sale comes into this one with a sparkling 89.5% NRFI rate in 2026 as well. He’s poised for even more success tonight against a hapless Mets offense missing Juan Soto (calf). New York has accounted for a lackluster 28.04% YRFI rate, 11th-worst in baseball. There isn’t much reason to believe this squad scores early vs. a Cy Young contender.

On the other side, it’ll be Christian Scott making his 15th start of the season. All things considered, the right-hander has been a stabilizing force in this Mets rotation. Over 63.1 innings pitched, he’s posted a 3.13 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 78 strikeouts (11.1 K/9). Even more important (for the sake of this bet), he possesses a 78.3% NRFI rate through 23 career starts. Granted, navigating this Braves lineup won’t be easy by any means. That’s especially true with Ronald Acuna Jr. activated off of the injured list. Still, with Sale on the other side, this NRFI bet likely comes down to Scott’s ability to pick up three outs. That’s a wager that most bettors should feel confident in on Wednesday.

Yankees vs. White Sox NRFI (-125)

Taking the mound for the Yankees tonight will be staff ace Cam Schlittler. At this point, what more needs to be said about the AL Cy Young favorite? Through 130.1 innings (22 starts), the right-hander has notched a 2.07 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 157 strikeouts (10.8 K/9). During his last time out, the 25-year-old tossed 7.1 scoreless frames in Philadelphia. He’ll look to keep that momentum going against an above-average Chicago lineup. Schlittler has allowed a first inning run on just 19 occasions this season (86.4% NRFI). Even this White Sox offense could struggle tonight against one of the best arms in baseball.

The South Siders will counter with an ace of their own in Davis Martin. Over 20 starts (111.0 innings), the 29-year-old has recorded a 3.49 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 100 strikeouts (8.1 K/9). He’s been less effective in recent weeks, but the veteran remains a stabilizing force on the mound. That’s especially true in the first inning, where he’s put up a stellar 90.0% NRFI rate. The Yankees are banged up on offense, missing big bats such as Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger. New York has a below average 25.86% YRFI rate on the road this season. Against a solid arm such as Martin, it’s difficult to envision early scoring.

Cubs vs. Cardinals NRFI (-120)

When healthy, Matthew Boyd is one of the National League’s more underrated pitchers. The 2025 All-Star has missed a good chunk of this season due to injury. However, he’s been his usual self on the mound when healthy. During 11 starts (59.0 innings), Boyd has accounted for a 3.81 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 55 strikeouts (8.4 K/9). Interestingly, Boyd has been better on the road (3.21 ERA) than at home (4.35 ERA). St. Louis batters have scored 34 runs over their last ten games, fourth-fewest in the majors during that stretch.

The Cardinals will hand the ball tonight to Dustin May. Through 104.0 innings of work (20 starts), he’s produced a 4.59 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 103 strikeouts (8.9 K/9). Those numbers, while mediocre, don’t tell the whole story. May is far more trustworthy at home (3.45 ERA) than on the road (6.31 ERA). He’ll face one of baseball’s better offenses this evening in the Cubs. However, Chicago’s offense usually takes some time to get going. The team ranks last in the majors with an 18.18% YRFI rate on the road this season. Keeping that in mind, I’m willing to bet these two rivals put up blanks to kick off Wednesday’s matchup.
