After a fun week in the Twin Cities where an exciting young talent claimed his first PGA TOUR victory, the focus of the golf world shifts to the Motor City for the final edition of the Rocket Classic. Detroit Golf Club has hosted this event since 2019, and it will likely finish its run as a regular PGA TOUR stop this week. The players are gearing up for the FedExCup Playoffs, which start in just two weeks, and if you’re looking to build your bankroll before the postseason, DraftKings has a wide range of contests available, including some excellent cash game opportunities. My three top fantasy golf cash plays to consider this week are Cameron Young ($10,500), Christiaan Bezuidenhout ($7,300) and Ben Kohles ($7,300).

Pivot plays for tournament lineups are usually more aggressive, while fantasy golf cash game picks are safer with higher floors and lower risk. The picks in this post generally have higher ownership than my pivot plays, but they are good selections for contests where the uniqueness of your lineup is less important. Think of cash game picks as lying back and playing a par 5 as it was designed, taking three shots before reaching the green, searching for a solid birdie. Tournament picks are like going driver off the deck to try to reach the green in two — more reward if it works, but much more risk, as well.

Cameron Young ($10,500)
Since he’s the betting favorite to win this week and the most expensive player in the salary structure, Young isn’t a play that’s going to sneak up on anyone this week. Much like Scottie Scheffler in last week’s tournament, though, he stands out above the rest of the field and can be a great anchor to build around. He comes much cheaper than Scheffler did last week, too, and he’s much easier to build around.
The 29-year-old got his breakthrough win on the PGA TOUR just over a year ago at the Wyndham Championship, and he added two more titles to his total this season by winning THE PLAYERS Championship and the Cadillac Championship. He has seven top-10 finishes this season and added a runner-up at The Open Championship just one stroke behind Ryan Fox at Royal Birkdale.
Over the last six months, Young has led the field in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee, Total Strokes Gained and Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, while ranking third in Strokes Gained: Approach. The only part of his game that isn’t always locked in is his putting, but that looked strong at The Open, and he should fare well in Detroit as well.
This week will be his fourth career appearance at this week’s tournament. He finished runner-up in 2022, T-6 in 2024 and T-46 last year. With his long driving and excellent approach work, Young has the potential to contend this week and any time he tees it up. He hasn’t missed a cut yet this season and has consistently been near the top even when he isn’t winning.
For fantasy golf cash plays, managers don’t have to avoid obvious plays since roster differentiation is less critical. Young’s win equity and consistency make him a great place to start your lineups this week.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout ($7,300)
On the value side of things, Bezuidenhout is another great option to consider for this week. He has made the cut in 16 of his 19 PGA TOUR events this year, with six top-25 finishes. He has only two top-10 finishes, but for cash game plays, his consistency and high floor is more important than getting an option with an extremely high ceiling, especially at this affordable salary.
Bezuidenhout posted four rounds under 70 last week at the 3M Open on his way to a T-20. He has three top-25 finishes in his last four events after a T-12 at the John Deere Classic and a T-21 at the ISCO Championship, going low in both of those events as well with seven of his eight rounds under 70.
The 32-year-old South African has made the cut in 12 of his last 13 events and ranks in the top 30 in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach and Strokes Gained: Putting over the last three months. He also ranks in the top 25 in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach over the last 12 months, and his consistent production is what makes him such a stable play for cash game lineups.
While he hasn’t played this event since 2023, Bezuidenhout did make the cut and finish T-56 the last time he played this week’s course.
He starts the week ranked No. 91 in the FedExCup points race and will look to move into the top 70 in the next two weeks to qualify for the postseason. Given his consistent form and balanced all-around game, Bezuidenhout has the potential to be a great value play for cash lineups.
Ben Kohles ($7,300)
Kohles is another good cash game option with the same affordable salary as Bezuidenhout. Kohles has a little more risk but also a little more upside based on how well he’s been playing lately.
Since he only has conditional status this season, the 36-year-old has split his time between the PGA TOUR and the Korn Ferry Tour, and he qualified for this week’s event in Detroit with his T-9 at the 3M Open last week. He moved into the top 100 in the FedExCup Standings with that move and has multiple potential paths to full-time membership if he keeps rolling.
While playing both tours, he has posted seven straight finishes in the top 30. In June, he claimed his fifth career win on the Korn Ferry Tour at the BMW Charity Pro-Am, which was held at The Country Club of Spartanburg in South Carolina. After that, he finished T-3 at the John Deere Classic at the start of July and T-15 at the ISCO Championship. In his top-10 finish last week, Kohles ranked second in Strokes Gained: Approach, T-3 in driving accuracy and eighth in Scrambling.
He swapped his putter just before he won on the Korn Ferry Tour, and his flat stick has started to support his excellent iron play. Over the last three months, he ranks fifth in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach, 18th in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and 17th in Total Strokes Gained.
Kohles has played well recently at the Detroit Golf Club, making the cut in each of his last two stops, with a T-20 in 2024 and a T-78 last year. With how well he’s rolling it, Kohles is a name to watch this week as he tries to improve his status for next season.
