A narrow 5-4 victory on Friday has given the Rangers (52-51) a 1.5-game lead in the wide open AL West. Hot on their tails are the Mariners (51-53), who took home the division crown last season. Now, Seattle and Texas will meet for the second of a three-game weekend series. Which of these rivals will pick up a crucial win tonight in Arlington?
The Mariners are favorites (-114) over the Rangers, with the over/under set at 7.5 runs. Below, I’ve laid out my preview, prediction, and best bet for Saturday’s showdown between Seattle and Texas on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Mariners vs. Rangers pick, best bet today
- Mariners ML (-114): With respect to the Ragners, Seattle has the pitching advantage tonight. To boot, the Mariners have done a solid job in the past when facing Eovaldi. Back the visitors in this one.
Mariners vs. Rangers prediction, preview
Entering the season, Bryan Woo was the undisputed ace of a talented Mariners starting rotation. However, the right-hander hasn’t been at his best in 2026. Through 110.1 innings, he’s recorded a 4.16 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 109 strikeouts (8.9 K/9). That includes uneven performances from start to start; you never know which version of the former All-Star you’re going to get. Still, it’s likely just a matter of time until Woo looks like his old self. He ranks within the 90th percentile in chase rate (34.7%) and walk rate (4.9%). There are a few concerning hard-hit metrics, but this remains the profile of an upper echelon pitcher.
Pitching outside of Seattle has been brutal for Woo; he comes into this one with a 6.28 ERA on the road. With that being said, Globe Life Field is the second-friendliest venue for pitchers according to Savant. Woo has surrendered just one earned run over his previous three meetings on the road vs. Texas. The Rangers are averaging 4.02 runs per game at home, 23rd in baseball. To boot, slugging shortstop Corey Seager (back) remains sidelined. At full strength, this isn’t a bad offense by any means. However, they aren’t an insurmountable opponent by any means.
On the other side, it’ll be Nathan Eovaldi toeing the slab this evening. Much like Woo, the former All-Star hasn’t been at his best this season. Over 115.1 innings pitched (19 starts), he’s accounted for a 4.21 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 122 strikeouts (9.5 K/9). The veteran is still one of the game’s best when it comes to strikeouts; he places inside the 87th percentile in chase rate (36.5%) and whiff rate (30.9%). However, he’s inside the bottom 33rd percentile when it comes to barrel rate (8.6%) and hard-hit rate (40.8%).
The Mariners are by no means an intimidating matchup; they are second-worst in runs (419) and OPS (.686). With that being said, this group is 16th in home runs (121). If nothing else, the M’s are capable of socking a dinger or two on any given night. As previously mentioned, Eovaldi has run into problems with hard contact. His 1.7 HR/9 ratio is tied for the fourth-highest mark among qualified pitchers. To boot, Texas’ hurler has had difficulty in this spot as of late. Over his last five meetings with Seattle, Eovaldi has notched a lackluster 5.32 ERA.
Best Bet: Mariners ML (-114)
Although each of these pitchers is capable of throwing a gem, I feel more confident in Woo tonight. His peripherals are stronger than Eovaldi’s, and he’s had major success against the Rangers recently. It may take just a few runs, but the Mariners are poised to even up this series on Saturday.
