Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Los Angeles Dodgers at New York Mets ($9,900) — Yamamoto is coming off a complete-game masterpiece against the New York Yankees, allowing two earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts — good for 34.4 FPTS. Yummy. In the prior game, though, he only finished with 8.1 FPTS against the Arizona Diamondbacks. But, but, but…the game before that one, he struck out 10 over seven shutout innings against the San Diego Padres, good for 36.8 FPTS! It’s baseball, and anything can happen in any given start. On the season, Yamamoto has only finished with single-digit FPTS three times, while clearing 20 FPTS 10 times — with four of those over 30 FPTS. He has been a little lucky with a .223 BABIP, but the FIP is still 3.33. Yamamoto has posted a 19.3% K-BB% and a 6.7% barrel rate. He now faces a Mets team that ranks 23rd in ISO, 29th in wOBA, and 26th in wRC+.

Robert Gasser, Milwaukee Brewers vs. Colorado Rockies ($7,200) — The season-long numbers aren’t great for Gasser, as he’s posted a 5.13 FIP while allowing 11 home runs in just 51.1 innings. That said, he’s posted an 86.6 mph average exit velocity with a 30.9% hard-hit rate. He’s put up double-digit FPTS in five of his last six starts, including three performances over 20 FPTS. Now he faces a Rockies team that is 11th in strikeouts and 28th in wRC+. Gasser is much better at home, where he’s posted a 4.20 FIP and a 23.1% strikeout rate.

Kody Clemens, Minnesota Twins vs. Athletics ($5,000) — Athletics right-hander Mason Barnett has a 5.87 FIP and allowed five home runs in only 21.1 innings. He’s allowed an 89.1 mph average exit velocity and a 10.5% barrel rate. Against lefties, Barnett owns a 7.95 FIP and a 2.4% K-BB%. Clemens enters with a 92.7 mph average exit velocity and a 12.4% barrel rate. He owns a 115 wRC+ and a .248 ISO against right-handed pitching, along with 14 of his 18 home runs.

Nathaniel Lowe, Cincinnati Reds at St. Louis Cardinals ($3,100) — Lowe wasn’t doing much for a while, but he’s been on a little heater recently — hitting three home runs in his last five games. On the season, the average exit velocity is 89.1 mph with an 11.3% barrel rate. His bat speed is a healthy 74.6 mph. Against right-handed pitching, Lowe has posted a 128 wRC+ and a .251 ISO. Andre Pallante has a 4.06 FIP and an 8.9% K-BB% against lefties, serving up six of his 10 allowed home runs to southpaws.
OUTFIELD

Trevor Larnach, Minnesota Twins vs. Athletics ($4,000) — Yup, we’re stacking against Barnett. Larnach owns a 146 wRC+ and a .164 ISO against right-handed pitching. Six of his eight home runs have come off a righty, and he’s been primarily batting leadoff since early June.

Cedric Mullins, Tampa Bay Rays vs. Cleveland Guardians ($3,000) — Mullins has put up some gross numbers this season, slashing .201/.283/.344 with a .144 ISO. The barrel rate is only 4.3%. That said, the BABIP is only .220 — and he does have 12 home runs, 36 runs, 31 RBIs and 16 stolen bases in 342 plate appearances. There was a streak in late June when he put up double-digit FPTS in five of six contests. He’s put up FPTS in six straight games, with two performances in double digits. Mullins has hit all of his home runs off righties and owns a .183 ISO toward the split. Tanner Bibee has a 5.08 FIP against lefties, serving up 14 of his 20 allowed home runs to southpaws.
