Yordan Alvarez More Than 1.5 Total Bases
It has been a remarkable season for Yordan Alvarez. Alvarez ranks in the top three in the MLB in batting average, OPS, home runs and RBIs. He started the season red-hot and has basically just stayed on that same trajectory. That being said, he is especially hot at the moment. So far in July, he is batting .390 with a 1.269 OPS. Alvarez has also been much better at home all season, with an absurd season-long OPS of 1.203 in Houston in 2026.
The Astros are facing Sandy Alcantara to start tonight. Alcantara has worked hard to get back to being a serviceable MLB starter after a disastrous 2025 season. However, he still has a problem giving up hard power this season. Alcantara also has a 4.48 ERA on the road, compared to 3.26 at home. Alvarez should get one good swing in against Alcantara and get over this number of 1.5 total bases.
Mookie Betts More Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
It has been a rough stretch for the former MVP. Mookie Betts has had a tough July, but he seemed to finally find a spark on Monday night against the Phillies. Betts hit a pair of home runs at Citizens Bank Park in that game. It was Betts’ first home run since June 27th and his first multi-home-run game since May 26th. This matchup against Aaron Nola is a great chance for Betts to ride that momentum and get his season back on track.
Mookie Betts has always gotten the better of Aaron Nola. Betts has batted .417 with a 1.209 OPS in 24 career at-bats against Nola. A lot of those matchups came when Nola was one of the best pitchers in baseball as well, which he no longer is. Nola has a shocking 5.68 ERA this season, the second-worst in the MLB among qualified pitchers. Betts should get his bat going against Nola and generate a run.
Kevin McGonigle More Than 0.5 Hits
Kevin McGonigle is having a fantastic season in Detroit. McGonigle ranks 10th in the MLB in WAR, according to Fangraphs. That is in large part due to his excellent glove, but McGonigle is also batting .282 with an .816 OPS. McGonigle has actually been better on the road this season, with an .841 OPS away from home. It has been a nice July for McGonigle, with an .839 OPS so far this month. Everything points in the direction of McGonigle having a nice game tonight against the Cubs.
Colin Rea has a 4.74 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP this season. Lefties are batting .299 with a .797 OPS against Rea this year. The left-handed Kevin McGonigle should present massive problems for Rea. At the very least, McGonigle should register a base hit in this game.
