The Open Championship 2026 Purse Breakdown, Payouts

At the end of the final major championship of the season, someone will win the title of “Champion Golfer of the Year” and the Claret Jug as the winner of The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale Golf Club. The total purse for the event is $17.75 million, with the winner receiving $1,584,000.

Coming into Sunday, Sam Burns has a two-stroke lead over Ryan Fox and Si Woo Kim. Ryan Gerard and Lucas Herbert are one stroke further back with big names Ludvig Aberg, Bryson DeChambeau, and first-round leader Jackson Suber four strokes off the pace and tied for sixth. With three -8 rounds of 62 already this week, the potential for someone to come from way back in the pack is definitely real as well. Coming into the Final Round, 37 golfers are within eight strokes of Burns’ lead.

Be sure to check out the odds from DraftKings Sportsbook coming into the Final Round as well.

Here’s how the top-25 will pay out at the end of the tournament. Ties will be evenly divided among the included positions. For example, a four-way tie for fourth would result in the total purse for fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh getting evenly divided between the four players.
