Two former UFC Champions, Dricus Du Plessis and Kamaru Usman, will face each other in the Main Event of this week’s UFC Fight Night at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 11 months after losing the Middleweight title to Khamzat Chimaev, DDP returns to embark on a path to reclaiming gold. But he has a tough challenge ahead, as former UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman is moving up to attempt to become a two-division title holder. With two former champions batting it out, whoever comes out on top will put themselves in the conversation for a title shot against current champion Sean Strickland, whom Du Plessis and Usman have each already beaten.

Kamaru Usman Moneyline (+180)
From 2013 to 2021, Usman won 19 consecutive contests and became one of the greatest fighters in UFC history in that span. During that period, Usman had six straight title wins but then suffered three straight losses from 2022 to 2023. After 20 months away, Usman returned and dominated Joaquin Buckley in June 2025. Now, Usman is back after another year-long layoff. Even in defeat, Usman had a positive performance on short notice against Chimaev in October 2023 at 185 pounds, giving him a ton of hope that a legitimate run in the division could lead to more success. Normally, when fighters near 40 years old, they start to slow down. But Usman proved in his last fight that he still has a lot of gas left in the tank.
Before losing to Chimaev at UFC 319, DDP was on an impressive 11-fight winning streak with eight finishes. After his first two career losses, Du Plessis went on a long winning streak. Following his first career loss in 2014, DDP won eight straight and then won 11 in a row the second time.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Usman is a +180 underdog with Du Plessis being a -218 favorite in this contest. The over/under is set at 3.5 rounds, with the over being -200 and the under being +160. Usman is the more accurate striker (5.18 vs. 4.16) and averages more takedowns per 15 minutes (2.79 vs. 2.22) than Du Plessis. Also, even though Usman is moving up a weight class, he has the same standing reach (76″), with DDP being taller by one inch (6’1″ vs. 6’0″). I think if Usman is the aggressor and has a higher output than Du Plessis, he will be able to find plenty of success in this fight. Taking Usman to win this fight at +180 is a tremendous value play because of his elite experience and well-rounded skill set.
