Love Island UK is approaching the end of another great season. Episode 50 is a major milestone of the season, that featured a shocking recoupling.

Love Island UK Episode 50 Recap 7/17/26
The episode picked up with the drama of the last episode getting hashed out. That was mainly the love triangle of Finley, Elicia and Ellie. Aidan, Samraj and Tommy told Finley off for lying in bed with Elicia last night before sleeping outside. It was a real moment of tension between the boys, something that rarely happens on this show. Finley seems to be totally set on Ellie, but only time will tell if he sticks to his word this time around. Elicia grills Finley as well for wasting her time and stringing her along. He is getting it from all angles and deservedly so.
Elicia now has to move back to Aidan after things failed so miserably with Finley. The two of them have decided to pick up where they left off, making a new love triangle of Elicia, Priya and Aidan. That is what made the text that came in shortly after so dramatic. It said that there would be a recoupling that night, in which the girls chose who they wanted to couple up with. That means the next few hours will involve the boys putting in a graft and the girls doing a lot of thinking.
The Recoupling
The first girl to go was Yasmin, who picked Tommy. That is a couple that seems to be going very strong. Up next, Martha picked Jordon in a couple that seems to be progressing surprisingly well. The next person to pick was Angelista, who chose the newly in love Simba. The next girl to pick was Julia, who showed a much softer side in her speech to Lorenzo. The final non-dramatic pick of the night saw Jasmine pick Kavan.
Only three boys remained, Aidan, Finley and Ethan. Elicia was the next girl who got to pick. She had been with Finley, but after the way he discarded her, she went with Aidan in this recoupling. That took the decision out of Priya’s hands, so she coupled back up with Ethan. Ellie was last to go, and chose to recouple with Finley. She made it clear that he is on his last legs and needs to work his way back into her good books. Although, that is something we have heard before.
The main takeaway from the recoupling is that it seemed as if Aidan and Priya wanted to be together, but they didn’t get that chance. The problem is Aidan wants to get to know Elicia and will not have the same will power to keep it respectful, like Priya has done with Ethan.
Some strange drama popped up when Priya and Lorenzo were chatting about Priya’s relationship. Julia came over and they asked her to wait for them to finish, but Julia insisted on joining in. That led to a slight squabble between Julia and Priya, but it doesn’t seem to be something that will last. There seems to be a reoccuring problem with there being a disconnect between Julia and the other islanders. They seem to struggle to understand her sense of humor and general disposition, likely just a cultural difference. However, the audience has made it clear that they are a big fan of Julia, so hopefully she continues to be herself.
The Next Day
Julia floats to Elicia and Martha that Aidan and Priya might be coupling up out of convenience. In a surprising move, Julia decided to pull Aidan for a chat and talk about his feelings for Elicia. Julia wants to see Elicia and Aidan get together and Priya and Ethan to get together. This will likely lead to some more serious drama between the girls. Jasmine overheard most of the conversation and told Priya everything that Julia said to Aidan.
Priya decides to interrupt the conversation and jump in. She is mad at Julia for getting involved in her situation. This continues the trend of people getting mad at Julia for things that everybody else in the villa seems to do regularly. It will be interesting to see how the public views the dispute between the girls, as well as the “love square” of Aidan, Priya, Elicia and Ethan. Those thoughts will be made clear in the next episode, as the public will be voting on their favorite boy and favorite girl.
