Toronto Blue Jays Team Total Over 4.5 Runs

We’re kicking off the second-half of the season with the Blue Jays to go over their team total of 4.5. They’ll face off against Anthony Kay, who enters tonight with a 4.23 ERA with an xERA of 5.23 and a 4.97 FIP. Kay has also been much worse on the road, where he owns a 5.74 ERA with a .375 wOBA, a 6.21 FIP and eight of the 12 home runs he’s allowed. Kay has a number of pitches in his arsenal but his sweeper is his main pitch. Opposing hitters have tagged that for a .417 wOBA with a .400 ISO. I think this is a great spot for the Blue Jays against a struggling starter.
TJ Rumfield 2+ Total Bases
Odds: -103 | Opponent: Cincinnati Reds
Rumfield and the Rockies will start a series at home tonight against the Cincinnati Reds. Brady Singer is expected to take the mound, which sets up a great matchup for Rumfield. Against lefties, Singer owns a .381 wOBA with a 5.61 FIP and 14 of the 20 home runs he’s allowed. Singer has also been horrific on the road, owning a 6.75 ERA with a .409 wOBA and a 5.40 FIP. His pitch arsenal is dominated by a sinker, which he’s throwing around 52% of the time. Against that pitch, Rumfield has a .423 wOBA with a .190 ISO. Getting close to even money for Rumfield to record 2+ total bases is a play I’m on.

Merrill Kelly Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
Odds: -106 | Opponent: St. Louis Cardinals
Kelly is a horrendous starting pitcher. Even with a 5.38 ERA, he’s due for some major regression, as he’s also the owner of a 7.47 xERA and a 5.90 FIP. While he hasn’t necessarily been good on the road or at home, he’s been particularly poor at home. Through 32.2 innings, Kelly has a 7.44 ERA with a .431 wOBA and a 6.50 FIP at home this season. Kelly has gone under this 17.5 total in four of the six home starts he’s made. All of that has me on the under for his outs total tonight against the Cardinals.
