Jesus Luzardo, Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets ($9,800) — The season-long numbers look magnifique for Luzardo — 21.8% K-BB%, 2.84 FIP, 86.6 mph average exit velocity, and 5.3% barrel rate. Still, there was a lot of volatility, especially early in the season. His first five starts of the season consisted of a high of 36 FPTS while the rest were under 12 FPTS, including a -3.8 FPTS performance. Since then, Luzardo has had only two starts with single-digit FPTS. He has put up over 25 FPTS in five of his last six contests, with three over 30 FPTS. Luzardo only put up 17 FPTS against these Mets three starts ago, but he allowed just one earned run on four hits while walking three and striking out six. Against left-handed pitching, New York is 25th in wOBA and 21st in wRC+.

Shane Drohan, Milwaukee Brewers vs. Miami Marlins ($7,200) — Drohan has produced double-digit FPTS in eight straight starts. Granted, he didn’t hit 20 FPTS in any of those outings, but that ain’t bad for the price. The matchup isn’t great, as Miami is 23rd in strikeouts, sixth in wOBA, and 11th in wRC+. That said, Drohan has posted a 3.24 FIP through 70 innings with a 16.1% K-BB% and only six home runs allowed. The average exit velocity is 87.9 mph.

Alec Burleson, St. Louis Cardinals at Arizona Diamondbacks ($3,900) — Burleson has an average exit velocity of 91.7 mph with an 11.6% barrel rate. He’s not good against left-handed pitching but obliterates righties. Thirteen of his 15 home runs have been hit off right-handed pitchers, while the wRC+ is 158 and the ISO is .244. Brandon Pfaadt has struggled against lefties, with a 5.96 FIP and an 8.7% K-BB%. Seven of his eight home runs allowed have come off the bat of a lefty.

Andruw Monasterio, Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays ($2,600) — Monasterio is a lefty masher, posting a 146 wRC+ and .309 ISO in 76 plate appearances against southpaws. Ian Seymour has actually been better against righties (3.48 vs. 5.01 FIP). Still, the BABIP is only .240 while the K-BB% is 13 percentage points lower against righties. In the five games before the break, Monasterio had two outings with 24 FPTS. The upside is too good for the price.

Jac Caglianone, Kansas City Royals vs. San Diego Padres ($4,600) — Caglianone has an average exit velocity of 93 mph, a barrel rate of 14.7%, and a bat speed of 77.3 mph. Ten of his 15 home runs have come against right-handed pitching, with him posting a 124 wRC+ and a .205 ISO in the split. Griffin Canning has a 6.07 FIP and 9.4% K-BB% against lefties, along with all eight of his home runs allowed.

Derek Hill, Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets ($2,100) — Hill has a 35.9% strikeout rate, but has racked up seven home runs and 10 stolen bases in 145 plate appearances. The average exit velocity is a respectable 90.4 mph with an 11% barrel rate. He’s hit five homers off lefties, posting a 107 wRC+ and a .225 ISO against them. Sean Manaea has a 5.24 FIP and 9% K-BB% against righties, along with eight of his 10 home runs allowed. Hill put up 22 FPTS in two of three games before the break.
