This is the first time that CM Punk and Cody Rhodes are teaming up in tag team competition. They are taking on Gunther and Sami Zayn in a star-studded tag team match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Even though Punk and Rhodes have an upcoming match against each other at SummerSlam, they remain friends, and their chemistry should be better than their opposition, as Gunther and Zayn have not gotten along very well.

Fatal Influence has lost two consecutive tag team matches and should enter this contest desperate for a victory. Paige and Brie Bella have had a good reign as champions since winning the titles at WrestleMania 42. But I think a title change could be good for the division. I think Jacy Jayne is the x-factor helping Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid win the match.

Danhausen vs. JD McDonagh — Singles Match
Since debuting in WWE, Danhausen has become a massive superstar, and although he doesn’t compete much in the ring, he makes a major impact each time he is on television. Danhausen has a connection to the Knicks, whom he uncursed en route to their NBA Championship, making it vital for Him to have a big role at this event. Danhausen will likely be one of the top fan favorites at this event, so it would be shocking if he lost.

Bayley vs. Lyra Valkyria — Singles Match
After being friends, another chapter has been added to the relationship between Bayley and Lyra Valkyria. If this turn proves successful, a win over former Women’s Champion Bayley would help catapult her career.

My prediction for the best match at Saturday Night’s Main Event is CM Punk and Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther and Sami Zayn. This match has four guys with plenty of history, and the tension will be evident from the start. A match featuring four wrestlers who are or have been WWE Champions should make for an elite contest.
Final Thoughts on WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event NYC
Although this card only has one championship match, I think it should do a good job of continuing storylines leading to SummerSlam, which is in two weeks. Also, even though it is in an unconventional way, this card still has plenty of star power, with Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Gunther, Sami Zayn, and Danhausen.
