Which MLB team will lose the most regular season games?

They say that misery loves company, so the teams in this post must be very popular, since they’ve had more than their share of miserable results so far this MLB season. While there have been some pleasant surprises, these teams have definitely been disappointments so far this season. One fun thing to do during the All-Star break, without any regular-season games, is to take a look at some of the futures markets available on DraftKings Sportsbook for the rest of the season. One fun market that is available for these disappointing teams is to try to pick the team that will finish with the fewest wins and the most regular season losses.

At the start of the break, I took a look at the most regular season wins market, and now we’re checking out the flip side of the spectrum and figuring out which team will end up with the worst record.

Let’s check out the odds for the most regular-season losses this year and find a few plays that make sense to consider.

2026 Fewest Regular Season Wins Odds on DraftKings Sportsbook

Kansas City Royals (+260)

At the All-Star break, three teams are already at 59 losses for the season. The Rockies (+100) are still the favorite for the worst record after going just 43-119 last year. However, they do already have 39 wins this season, while the Royals and Angels are each 38-59 with 65 games left in the season. The Angels and Royals have both been disappointing, but the Royals seem to be in worse shape and could even sell off some pieces at the deadline since they are so far out of contention without any stars coming back soon.

Kansas City lost its ace in Cole Ragans to season-ending elbow surgery, its closer in Carlos Estevez to a recurring shoulder issue, and its leadoff hitter in Maikel Garcia (hand). Garcia will hopefully return soon, but the season in Kansas City is still a lost one. Jac Caglianone and Luinder Avila are interesting pieces for the future, and there is some young talent in the pipeline, but the team is securely in the basement of the AL Central going into the second half, and could challenge for the worst record in baseball after losing five straight games going into the break, including being swept by the also-underwhelming Orioles.

Athletics (+1600)

The A’s were on top of the AL West not all that long ago, but their season has folded as fast as their pitching staff. The team dropped 13 of 14 games going into the All-Star break and fired their long-time pitching coach Scott Emerson on Monday.

The A’s are 41-55, so they are still 3 1/2 games out of the absolute cellar, but they have the worst ERA in the American League at 5.21. They also have some exciting young pieces, especially on offense, but the pitching staff is struggling both in the rotation and at the end of games out of the bullpen which is holding them back.

The team has more upside than the others on this list, but there is also definitely a scenario where the slide continues and they end up at the bottom of the heap.

New York Mets (+2200)

Everything has gone wrong for the Mets this season, and they’ve fallen from World Series hopefuls at the start of the season to one of the worst teams in baseball. They are 40-57, just two games ahead of the Royals and Angels for the worst record, so getting them at over +2200 feels like great value.

The Mets were just swept at home by the Red Sox and went just 5-9 in their last 14 games coming into the All-Star break. They do have most of their lineup back healthy, but they’re still struggling to get going at the plate or on the mound.

With the trade deadline quickly approaching at the end of the month, the expectation is that the Mets could be one of the biggest sellers, possibly even with Francisco Lindor available and willing to waive his no-trade clause. Like the Royals, they have some fun and exciting young pieces, but they have a long way to go before they turn things around based on their current roster. If they do trade players away and continue to go extremely young, they could be in for a long rest of the season.

Based on the winning percentage of opponents remaining, the Mets have the hardest schedule in MLB the rest of the season. They play the Brewers six more times, the Braves six more times and the Phillies seven more times, while also facing the Yankees and Dodgers for three more games. If you think the team will make trades and continue their collapse, they’re a great value in this market at +2200 to finish with the worst record in MLB.
