The final major championship of 2026 begins this week at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, Merseyside,
England. The 154th Open Championship begins on Thursday, July 16, in the early morning in the United States and will conclude on Sunday, July 19.
The Open Championship will be making its 11th stop at the famous golf club, most recently stopping at Royal Birkdale in 2017, when Jordan Spieth defeated Matt Kuchar. Last year, Scottie Scheffler won his first Open Championship, but the event was held at Royal Portrush, a totally different course and layout. No player has won multiple Opens since 2013, with 12 different players earning the honor as The Champion Golfer of the Year.
