The Vampire Lestat Episode 6 airs Sunday, July 12, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC. The episode, titled “Montreal,” will also stream on AMC+.

The season is in a messy place now, which suits it. Lestat has made the album. The record has started to chart. His band is not intact in any normal sense. Larry quit after months of being worn down in the studio, while Alex, Salamander, and TC asked to be turned. The tour began as Lestat’s answer to Daniel Molloy’s book. By Episode 6, it has become harder to separate the music from the blood gathering around it.

Spoilers follow for The Vampire Lestat Episode 5, “New York.”

The Vampire Lestat episode 6 preview

“New York” was strongest when it trapped Lestat in the studio and made him listen to himself. He pushed the band through take after take, chasing a sound that could hold everything he wanted to say. The episode kept pulling Nicki and Louis into that room with him, which made the music feel less like reinvention and more like unfinished grief. Lestat can dress the album as spectacle, but the songs keep leading him back to people he damaged, lost, or failed to save.

The biggest reveal was not musical. Marius told Lestat more about Akasha, Enkil, and the ancient blood moving through him. That gives Louis a brutal new piece of context heading into “Montreal.” The official synopsis says Louis learns Lestat’s biggest secret, which should not land softly. Louis has spent years trying to understand the violence that shaped their life in New Orleans. A supernatural explanation may change the scale. It does not erase Claudia, the house, the trial, or the damage already done.

Claudia should sit at the center of this hour. Episode 5 made Louis admit the truth about Regina, and the show did not soften it. Regina was a paid stand-in for a daughter Louis cannot grieve cleanly. Lestat recognized the resemblance and lied about it, which was one of his sadder gestures of mercy. Then he wrote “Stained Glass Eyes,” a song that finally let Claudia enter his music without a joke, a costume, or a defense mechanism.

Episode 6 appears ready to bring Claudia even closer. Preview materials show Merrick Mayfair with Claudia’s yellow dress and her diary. Louis and Lestat sit near a ring of salt in Lestat’s Montreal apartment. Claudia appears in the bloodied dress from the Paris trial. That is not casual ghost-story staging. The episode seems to place Claudia’s memory, her body, and her own words in front of the two men who still cannot agree on how to carry her.

Merrick Mayfair’s arrival also opens the world a little wider. Her name means something to Anne Rice readers, and it connects this story to a broader supernatural corner of Rice’s universe. The show has already introduced the Talamasca, Marius, Akasha, Enkil, and the language of the Great Conversion. Bringing in a Mayfair figure suggests AMC is starting to stitch those pieces together with more confidence.

Daniel’s story has its own strange pressure. Armand offered him the chance to walk in the sun, and Episode 6 materials show Daniel badly burned. That detail is funny in the dry, punishing way this show understands Daniel. He wanted answers, then immortality found him. He wanted distance from Armand, then Armand offered him daylight. Even the gifts in this universe come with damage attached.

The Louis and Gabriella meeting may be the quietest part of the episode, but it has teeth. Gabriella knows Lestat before the tour, before the album, before Louis, and before New Orleans. Louis knows the husband, maker, lover, father, and monster Lestat became. Their conversation can do something the show rarely allows: put two people who love Lestat in the same room without asking either one to flatter him.
