There is a David vs. Goliath semi-final matchup set between Alexander Zverev and Arthur Fery at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships.
Here is my pick, prediction and best bet for this Wimbledon men’s semi-final match.
Alexander Zverev vs. Arthur Fery Prediction
Arthur Fery Preview
Arthur Fery is one of the great Cinderella stories in recent memory. At Roland-Garros, Maja Chwalinska went on an incredible run to the women’s final as a wildcard. Now, Fery has done the same thing in men’s tennis at Wimbledon. Fery was the No. 114 player in the world coming into the tournament, and had to battle through qualifying to reach the main draw. Arthur Fery had never made it past the second round at a major before in his career, and now he is a Wimbledon semi-finalist after defeating Flavio Cobolli.
What makes this incredible run even more special is Fery’s direct connection to Wimbledon. It is where he grew up, attending King’s College School Wimbledon. Now, he has put on an incredible show for his hometown fans. This run has already been remarkable, but Fery is not complacent. At Roland-Garros, Chwalinska made it all the way to the final. Fery will hope he can match that or even follow in the footsteps of Goran Ivanisevic. Ivanisevic is the only wildcard to ever win a major in men’s tennis, and it came here at Wimbledon in 2001.
Alexander Zverev Preview
Alexander Zverev has a newfound confidence at Grand Slams. Zverev was a top-10 player in the world for the better part of a decade, but his career had become defined by not getting it done at majors. That finally changed at Roland-Garros earlier this summer, where Zverev took advantage of a wide-open tournament and won his first major title. Now, Zverev is at the major venue where he has had the least amount of success over the years. Before this year, Zverev had never even made a quarter-final at the All England Club. Not only did he cruise to the quarter-finals this year, he absolutely dominated Taylor Fritz in that quarter-final. Fritz had given Zverev massive issues the past couple of years, but Zverev took care of him in short order on Wednesday.
While the story of Arthur Fery is incredible, Alexander Zverev couldn’t have hoped for a better semifinal matchup. He ranks 101 spots higher than Fery in the ATP rankings. While Zverev needs to take his opponent seriously, he is a heavy favorite to make it to his second consecutive major final. He has a chance to keep riding this momentum and add another major title to his trophy cabinet.
Alexander Zverev vs. Arthur Fery Pick, Best Bet
My best bet is for Alexander Zverev to beat Arthur Fery in straight sets. Zverev is playing arguably the best tennis of her career over the past couple of months. He now has the confidence that he can get it done at majors, and it has shown at Wimbledon. His serve has been the best of anyone in the tournament, and Taylor Fritz could not handle it at all in the quarter-finals. Zverev defeated Fritz in straight sets, even though Fritz has gotten the better of Zverev over the past couple of years.
At the Australian Open earlier this year, Arthur Fery pulled off the biggest win of his career by defeating Flavio Cobolli in the first round. That is the same player he just beat in the Wimbledon quarter-finals. In the following round, Tomas Martin Etcheverry beat Fery in straight sets. This should be the end of the line for Fery’s incredible run. At plus-money, I’ll back Zverev to take him down in straight sets.
