Kevin Gausman, Toronto Blue Jays at San Francisco Giants, $9,000 — Gausman is a higher-risk pick than Cam Schlittler ($11,000), but he also saves a lot of salary and is coming in with better form after Schlittler was lit up by the Tigers in his last start. Gausman took a tough-luck loss to the Mets last week, despite going six innings and allowing just one run on five hits with seven strikeouts. His 21.3 FPTS was a great bounce-back after producing -10.1 FPTS and 2.3 FPTS in his previous two outings.
Gausman has been boom-or-bust this year, averaging 15.2 FPTS per outing but posting a few extreme highs and a few extreme lows. He will be facing his former team, the Giants, on Monday night in what should be a favorable matchup. He has faced San Francisco twice since he went to Toronto, allowing one run in six innings with 12 strikeouts at Rogers Center in 2023 and allowing two runs in seven innings in his return to the Bay in 2024. The Giants have scored the sixth-fewest runs in the MLB this season and the fourth-fewest over the last 30 days. Their underlying metrics aren’t quite as bad as their outcomes, but their recent struggles definitely set Gausman up for a good homecoming at pitcher-friendly Oracle Park. He’s risky, but the salary savings is worth it if he can deliver another solid start.

Reynaldo Lopez, Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets, $7,100 — Lopez had an awesome season in Atlanta in 2024, but only pitched five innings in 2025 due to shoulder surgery. In 2026, he started slowly and landed in the bullpen for a while, but he is back in the rotation and ready for a favorable matchup against the Mets on Monday.
Lopez showed his upside with his start last Wednesday, producing 23.4 FPTS with five innings against the Cardinals. He allowed just one run on two hits with six strikeouts. He has been trending in the right direction with a 2.70 ERA over his last 11 appearances (23 1/3 innings). He may not be fully stretched out to go deep into the game, but he can do enough to earn a win as he showed in his last outing.

SS Mookie Betts, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies, $4,800 — Betts bashed three homers over his last 10 games with a .341 average, four doubles, and a .437 wOBA. He had a 50% hard-hit rate over that stretch, which is a huge step up from his 38.9% hard-hit rate for the season. Betts is at home in what should be a high-scoring spot against Kyle Freeland ($5,800) of the Rockies, who has a 7.25 ERA and 1.60 WHIP this season. Betts is 13-for-45 (.289) in his career against Freeland, with eight of those 13 hits going for extra bases, including three home runs. He is trending in the right direction coming into this favorable spot, so he’s a solid pay-up play to build around.

2B Jose Tena, Washington Nationals vs. Houston Astros, $2,900 — If the rain holds off in D.C., the Nationals will have a nice matchup against Mike Burrows ($6,500), who has a 5.58 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in his 17 games this season. Lefties like Tena have hit Burrows especially hard this year with a .317 batting average, .414 wOBA and .252 ISO. Tena comes into the matchup with some good momentum for a play under $3,000. He has gone 9-for-26 (.346) over his last 10 games with two doubles, a triple, and a home run, boosting him to a .438 wOBA and helping him average 6.6 FPTS per game over that span and 10.3 FPTS over his last four contests.

OF James Wood, Washington Nationals vs. Houston Astros, $5,900 — In that same favorable matchup against Burrows, Wood has a very high ceiling if the rain allows this game to be played. The big lefty has 23 homers on the season, including six in his last 25 games, while hitting .270 with a .380 wOBA. He ranks near the top of just about every batted-ball metric there is and continues to crush everything he sees out of the leadoff spot for the Nats. He’ll be in a smash spot against Burrows on Monday night, and he’ll look to continue the impressive form that has helped him average 15.1 FPTS per game over his last seven contests. Garrett Mitchell, Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals, $3,400 — Mitchell has a high ceiling with both power and speed potential as he and the Brewers roll into the Show Me State to take on the Cards. Mitchell went 0-for-4 on Sunday with three strikeouts, but despite that down game, he’s still hitting .435 over his last six games with three doubles, a triple, and two home runs. In those six games, he has averaged 13 FPTS per game and has a scorching 81.3% hard-hit rate. Mitchell is up to eight homers and six stolen bases on the season while hitting .264 with a .357 wOBA. After losing last season to a shoulder injury, he is back to producing solid numbers for the Brewers, and he can be a solid option in your fantasy baseball picks, especially when they’re facing righties like Dustin May ($7,700), who has been knocked around in his two most recent starts.
