MLB Best Bets: Top player prop bets for Monday 7/06/26

Published:

By: Dan Johnson

Heatwave week is over, and Mondayโ€™s HRR board shifts the focus from broad weather heat to recent, bankable contact. Todayโ€™s targets come through a tighter lens: last 10 games, pitcher arsenal, lineup role, scoring context, park shape, and game environment.

Every qualifying ball in play mentioned below comes from that hitterโ€™s last 10 games. That keeps the batted-ball references tied to current form, recent swing quality, and the specific damage each player is carrying into Mondayโ€™s matchup.

Hereโ€™s how Iโ€™ll play it. Iโ€™ll be pumping out props and predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Best MLB player prop bets today

Player prop pickOddsWhy I like it
Yordan Alvarez 3+ HRR-115Alvarez carries 29 HR, 67 RBI, a .320 AVG, 35.5% HR rate, four HR on 18 qualifying BIPs, 95.4 EV, 50% hard-hit, 39% blast, 22% barrels, and 61% fly balls into Mikolasโ€™ four-seam/sinker/curveball mix, with Mikolas sitting at 2-7, 5.44 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and only 47 strikeouts in a humid Nationals Park forecast with an 87-degree high and storm risk.
Junior Caminero 2+ HRR-125Caminero attacks Schlittlerโ€™s four-seam/cutter/sinker mix with five HR on 16 qualifying BIPs, a 25.5% HR rate, 95.1 EV, 63% hard-hit, 56% blast, 25% barrels, 44% fly balls, and 13% pull barrels, while Schlittlerโ€™s strong 8-5, 2.08 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 123-strikeout profile still carries fresh scar tissue from a career-high four-HR outing before this controlled Tropicana Field environment.
Taylor Trammel 2+ HRR+130Trammellโ€™s price gets expensive from a 25.3% HR rate, two HR on 13 qualifying BIPs, 97.7 EV, 69% hard-hit, 54% blast, 23% barrels, and 62% fly balls against Mikolasโ€™ four-seam/sinker/curveball shape, with Mikolas dragging a 5.44 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, low 47-strikeout total, and a humid, 87-degree Washington run environment into the opener.
Garrett Mitchell 2+ HRR+115Mitchell brings a 10-for-23 week with two HR, three doubles, one triple, five RBI, two walks, 99.6 EV, 73% hard-hit, 53% blast, 33% barrels, and three HR on 15 qualifying BIPs into Mayโ€™s four-seam/cutter/sweeper mix, while May owns a 5-6 record, 4.80 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 78 strikeouts, and a warm Busch Stadium forecast with an 87-degree high and scattered storm risk.
Jordan Walker 3+ HRR+145Walker stacks 20 HR, 67 RBI, a 12.3% HR rate, two HR on 11 qualifying BIPs, 96.8 EV, 73% hard-hit, 64% blast, 36% barrels, and 27% line drives against Drohanโ€™s four-seam/sinker/curveball mix, with Drohan at 3-2, 3.12 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 59 strikeouts in 57.2 innings inside the same warm, thunderstorm-threatened Busch Stadium setting.

In-depth analysis below.

Prop bet analysis

Yordan Alvarez 3+ HRR (-115)

Yordan Alvarez gets the strongest 3+ HRR case because the power, pitcher matchup, and lineup context all point in the same direction. Miles Mikolas enters with a 5.44 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 47 strikeouts, and 18 homers allowed across 84.1 innings, so Houston gets a low-strikeout, contact-heavy righty who has already leaked plenty of damage. Alvarez also enters in monster season form, with 29 homers, 67 RBI, 59 walks, and a .320/.429/.637 slash.

The pitch-fit data pushes this from good profile to direct HRR target. Against the four-seam, sinker, and curveball mix he is expected to see from Mikolas, Alvarez has a 35.5% HR rate, four homers on 18 qualifying balls in play, 95.4 mph average exit velocity, 50% hard-hit, 39% blast, 22% barrel, and 61% fly balls. That is the perfect HRR build. A homer cashes 3+ by itself. A run-scoring double with Houston traffic also keeps the path clean. Nationals Park brings warm July air, with storms possible later, so the environment adds carry risk for the pitcher rather than dampening Alvarezโ€™s power path.

Junior Caminero 2+ HRR (-125)

Junior Caminero has the toughest opposing starter of the group, but the 2+ HRR number gives his bat enough room to win. Cam Schlittler enters with an excellent 8-5 record, 2.08 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 123 strikeouts, so this is not a casual pitcher fade. The bet is about Camineroโ€™s power form, Tampa Bayโ€™s home environment, and the lower HRR threshold. The Rays are 31-12 at home, 8-2 over their last 10, and averaging a .274 team batting average during that stretch. Caminero also carries a stratospheric season line, with 26 homers, 56 RBI, 49 walks, and a .288 average.

The matchup data still gives him a loud edge against the fastball, cutter, and sinker group. Caminero has five homers on 16 qualifying balls in play, with 95.1 mph average exit velocity, 63% hard-hit, 56% blast, 25% barrel, 44% fly balls, and 13% pull barrels. Tropicana Field removes weather noise, so this becomes a clean hitter-versus-pitcher contact bet.

Taylor Trammel 2+ HRR (+130)

Taylor Trammell is the plus-money leverage piece in the Houston stack. The season-long line is not as loud as Alvarezโ€™s, with Trammell sitting at .252/.316/.402, three homers, 11 RBI, and 14 runs across 41 games. That is exactly why the price is still playable. The appeal comes from the exact matchup. Mikolas has allowed 92 hits and 18 homers across 84.1 innings while striking out only 47 hitters, which creates a much friendlier contact environment than most starting pitchers on this slate.

Trammellโ€™s pitch-fit data is the loudest part of the case. Against the four-seam, sinker, and curveball mix, he has a 25.3% HR rate, two homers on 13 qualifying balls in play, 97.7 mph average exit velocity, 69% hard-hit, 54% blast, 23% barrel, and 62% fly balls. That profile is built for impact contact rather than empty singles. The zero pull-barrel mark adds some volatility, but the 2+ HRR line softens that risk. One homer clears it. One double with a runner aboard also gets there. Houstonโ€™s offense has already produced 125 homers, 485 runs, and a .430 slugging percentage, so Trammell gets a strong team context behind the individual pitch match.

Garrett Mitchell 2+ HRR (+100)

Garrett Mitchellโ€™s case starts with current form, then gets stronger through Dustin Mayโ€™s recent volatility. Mitchell has been swinging it well, with a .264 average, eight homers, 42 RBI, six steals, and an .817 OPS on the season. He has also gone 10-for-23 across his last seven games, with two homers, three doubles, one triple, five RBI, and two walks. That matters for HRR because Mitchell can cash through power, speed, or one extra-base swing in traffic.

Mayโ€™s full-season line sits at 5-6 with a 4.80 ERA and 1.27 WHIP, and his recent form has been uneven. After 15 scoreless innings against the Mets and Padres, he lasted only 2.2 combined innings in his next two starts while allowing 11 runs, 11 hits, and three walks.

Mitchell also matches Mayโ€™s four-seam, cutter, and sweeper mix with violent contact: 99.6 mph average exit velocity, 73% hard-hit, 53% blast, 33% barrel, and three homers on 15 qualifying balls in play. The 53% ground-ball rate keeps it from being a pure homer call. The 2+ HRR line keeps the bet flexible. One hard double, one run scored, or one mistake lifted into the seats can pay it off.

Jordan Walker 3+ HRR (+145)

Jordan Walker is the higher-variance 3+ HRR play, but the matchup gives him enough payoff at +140. Walker enters with a strong season line: .292/.352/.529, 20 homers, 18 doubles, 67 RBI, 54 runs, and 11 steals. He also just homered against the Cubs, a three-run shot that gave him his 20th of the season and accounted for all four Cardinals runs in that game.

Shane Drohan has pitched well overall, with a 3.12 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 59 strikeouts across 57.2 innings. The split is more interesting, though. Drohan has a 4.09 ERA as a starter compared with a 1.82 ERA in relief, so his run-prevention profile gets less pristine when he has to turn a lineup over.

Walkerโ€™s pitch-fit numbers explain the aggressive HRR angle. Against the four-seam, sinker, and curveball mix, he has a 96.8 mph average exit velocity, 73% hard-hit, 64% blast, 36% barrel, 27% line drives, and two homers on 11 qualifying balls in play. Busch Stadium gets warm evening conditions, around the low 80s at first pitch, and Walkerโ€™s lineup role gives him RBI volume. For 3+ HRR, the cleanest path is still one homer, but his doubles-and-RBI profile keeps the bet live without requiring a perfect night.
