Rick and Morty Season 9 is heading into its back half, meaning the show’s hiatus is only a few weeks away. Still, the animated Adult Swim hit has stayed consistent and true to its raunchy sci-fi roots, which is a notable achievement considering another fan-favorite came to a swift end earlier this year in Smiling Friends.
If you are dialed in for the latest multiversal adventure, here is everything you need to know before Rick and Morty Season 9 Episode 7 drops:
When does Rick and Morty Season 9 Episode 7 come out?
Rick and Morty Season 9 Episode 7 will premiere on Adult Swim at 11 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 5. The episode, which is titled Mortgully: The Last Rickforest, will have a runtime around 22 minutes. It will be available to stream on HBO Max and Hulu, but not until Monday, July 27. Episodes are hitting streaming on a three-week delay, so Episode 4 will be the one arriving on HBO Max and Hulu on Monday, July 6.

(Warning: Spoilers for Rick and Morty Season 9 Episode 6 ahead.)
Who will show up this episode?
Rick and Morty has had a pretty stable cast over the years, barring Adult Swim cutting ties with co-creator and lead voice actor Justin Roiland in 2023. The two titular roles are now filled by separate people, as they were in Seasons 7 and 8. Here is a look at the recurring cast, as well as who they are playing:
- Ian Cardoni as Rick Sanchez
- Harry Belden as Morty Smith
- Chris Parnell as Jerry Smith
- Sarah Chalke as Beth Smith / Space Beth
- Spencer Grammer as Summer Smith
Tom Kenny, Stephen Root and Kari Wahlgren have already made voice cameos in Season 9 so far, while other past featured players like Dan Harmon and Keith David have yet to appear. David’s President Curtis has his own spinoff show premiering in July, though, so he may not show up in the mainline series this season. Ed Helms, Rob Riggle, Keegan-Michael Key, Tilda Swinton, Owen Wilson and Ty Burrell are among the many celebrities who have cameoed this season, but their appearances were likely one-offs.
What to expect in Rick and Morty Season 9 Episode 7
Season 9 has featured plenty of classic Rick and Morty adventures, as well as the show’s signature exploration of existential dread and loneliness. We have revisited fan-favorite plot lines like Evil Morty and Snowball’s dimension of hyper-intelligent dogs, but the expansion into fresh stories has once again anchored the majority of the season.
Based on the lookahead to Season 9 Episode 7, Rick and Morty are headed to a planet to farm some special sap from an alien tree. Said tree turns out to be sentient, however, lecturing the pair of humans about their resource-hungry nature before absorbing them into its roots. The episode’s synopsis is as follows:
“Rick and Morty gotta evolve, broh.”
