The MLB has not just one but two games on tap for Sunday night, with a different pace to the schedule and games spread throughout the day to close out the holiday weekend. The Dodgers and Padres meet in Los Angeles in the traditional 7:20 p.m. ET matchup, with the Red Sox and Angels starting at 9:30 p.m. ET from 30 miles down the I-5 in Anaheim. With both games providing plenty of storylines, let’s take a look at my top three best bets from the player prop market in these Sunday Night Baseball matchups.
The Dodgers are -219 on the moneyline in the early matchup and are getting 90% of the bets on the moneyline as of Sunday afternoon. The over/under is 9.5 runs, with 66% of bets coming in on the over. The Red Sox are -163 on the moneyline and getting 93% of the bets on the moneyline. In that contest, the over/under is eight runs, with the over getting 56% of the action.
For each Major League Baseball matchup, DraftKings Sportsbook has a wide variety of batter and pitcher props on the board, so let’s take a look at my top plays from these two matchups on Sunday night.
Dodgers vs. Padres and Red Sox at Angels Prop Bets for Sunday 7/5/26
Andy Pages 3+ Hits + Runs + RBI (+113)
Pages has 209 HRR (hits, runs and RBI) on the season, averaging 2.3 HRR per game. He has picked things up over his last 11 games, going 13-for-43 (.302) with an average of 2.6 HRR per game. He’s moved up to the second spot in the Dodgers’ lineup over the past few weeks and has been a key part of their recent success.
On Sunday night, he’ll likely be in that spot in the batting order against lefty JP Sears, who has made two starts for the Padres this season, giving up nine runs on 13 hits in 10 1/3 innings. Righties have hit .314 against Sears this season with a .414 wOBA. Last year, in 27 starts, he had a 5.04 ERA, 5.21 FIP and 1.32 WHIP while splitting time between the A’s and Padres. Sears got smashed by the Cubs in his last start, which is one reason why the Dodgers are heavy favorites in the fourth game of this AL West series.
Pages has been solid against southpaws this season, but his splits are especially strong at home at Dodger Stadium, where he is hitting .290 with a .230 ISO and .361 wOBA. Pages went over this prop line in the first game of this series and has at least 3+ HRR in five of his last 11 games.
Since he has shown so much upside and the Dodgers are likely to pile up runs against Sears, this is a strong plus-money play on Sunday night.
Emmet Sheehan Under 5.5 strikeouts (-127)
Sheehan had a strong outing in his last start, which was also against the Padres. He went five innings and allowed one run on two hits to earn his fourth win of the season. He still has a 5.08 ERA, 4.68 FIP and 1.27 WHIP on the season, producing inconsistent results with a few strong outings mixed in.
Sheehan only had five strikeouts in that last outing and has come in under this prop line in four of his last five outings. He’s averaging 5.4 strikeouts per game on the season, but only 4.6 strikeouts per game over his last seven starts. The Dodgers don’t typically let their starters work late into games, and Sheehan has only pitched into the seventh inning one time all year.
Even though the Padres’ offense has been struggling, Sheehan seems unlikely to get to six punchouts. He only had two strikeouts in four innings against them earlier this year, and the familiar foes will likely keep him under this prop total again on Sunday night.
Ranger Suarez Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+112)
In the later matchup, the over on Suarez’s strikeout prop makes sense as he faces the Angels while the Red Sox go for the sweep in Anaheim. Suarez is 4-3 on the year with a 2.94 ERA and 2.71 FIP. He has a 25.5% strikeout rate this season, with 92 strikeouts in his 88 2/3 innings.
Suarez has gone over this prop line in three of his last four games and in four of his last six. He has 45 strikeouts in those six outings, averaging 7.5 strikeouts per game. He had eight strikeouts in his last start against the Nationals and should be in a much more favorable strikeout matchup on Sunday night against the Angels, who lead the majors with a 24.9% K%. They have averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game over their last 12 games, and they have especially struggled against lefties like Suarez.
Suarez has a good chance to get at least seven strikeouts in the late game based on his strong form and favorable matchup against the Halos.
